On July 19, 2023, Johnson Controls, a global company committed to smart, healthy and sustainable buildings, released the “Future Smart City in the” Dual-carbon “Era: White Paper on China’s Smart City Development” (hereinafter referred to as the “White Paper”). The white paper integrates the collective wisdom of co-authors from different fields of smart city and architecture, and clearly presents the development background and driving forces, solutions, industrial ecosystems and practice cases of China’s smart city industry in the “dual-carbon” era from a diversified perspective.
Johnson Controls and Industry Partners Release White Paper on China’s Smart City Development
By analyzing the evolution of domestic policies related to smart cities, the white paper combines the overall solutions in smart city scenarios such as smart buildings, smart energy, smart transportation, smart public services, workplaces, and smart security with rich cases, while integrating the innovative experience and profound insights of various writing units in related fields. Discuss the importance of human settlement health, ecological health and digital empowerment. The white paper was prepared by Johnson Controls in collaboration with Zhejiang University International Joint Business School (ZIBS), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), and CBRE.

The guests shared their views on building a future smart city in the dual-carbon era through a roundtable dialogue
At the White Paper’s launch in Shanghai today, government representatives and industry guests gathered to discuss the contents of the white paper and how China can achieve its smart city development goals. Zhu Hui, deputy secretary of the Party Group and Vice Chairman of Shanghai Changning District CPPCC, attended the conference and introduced the general situation of the development of green and low-carbon industry in Changning District. At the same time, the guests shared their views on building a future smart city in the dual-carbon era through a roundtable dialogue session.

The white paper also introduces examples of Johnson Controls Asia Pacific Headquarters Building, Guangzhou Taiku Hui, Qatar 2022 World Cup venue, Dubai Future Museum and other fields, showing how Johnson Controls applies solutions such as OpenBlue digital platform to help optimize building performance and achieve smarter and low-carbon operations.

At the conference site, Johnson Controls and its partners officially issued a research initiative for the future innovation and development of China’s smart cities, inviting more ecosystem partners to join hands and continue to explore the future innovation and sustainable development of smart cities from the perspectives of technological innovation, policy background, and business models.
Under the goal of “double carbon”, the construction of smart cities has been given a new mission.
