Recently, the official website of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology released the “Announcement on the List of Engineering Technology Research Centers of Guangdong Province to be identified in 2021”, and 58 units in Dongguan were selected into the list of provincial engineering technology research centers to be identified, ranking third in the province, second only to Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
These provincial engineering and technology research centers are distributed in various strategic emerging industries in Dongguan. Scientific and technological innovation leads industrial transformation and has become the mainstream of development in Dongguan.
When it comes to the manufacturing industry in Dongguan, many people will first think of the information technology industry represented by Huawei, OPPO and vivo. The new generation of information technology industry in Dongguan has grown into a trillion industry, but the situation of “one pillar dominating” industry is still to be solved. Dongguan’s GDP has exceeded 500 billion yuan in the first half of the year, and is expected to exceed one trillion yuan for the whole year. Long-term high-quality development in the future requires more emerging industries to support.
Nanfang Daily reporter interviewed a number of experts to analyze the transformation of old and new kinetic energy in Dongguan from the aspects of industrial development, energy level development, and environmental re-optimization.
1 How to expand the economic pillar?
We will lay out seven strategic bases for emerging industries
In Songshan Lake International Innovation and Entrepreneurship community, the researchers of Dongguan Nafeng Microelectronics Equipment Co., Ltd. are using precision instruments to carry out scientific research on nanoscale coating technology.
Li Xianglin, founder of Nafeng Microelectronics Co., LTD., introduced that atomic layer deposition technology, a coating technology with precise and controllable thickness, has broad application prospects in semiconductor chips, nanotechnology, new energy, biomedicine and other fields.
Li Xianglin has more than 10 years of experience in the field of this technology, its independent research and development of domestic atomic layer deposition equipment system, on the basis of ensuring the uniformity of coating and thickness control, the coating single cycle time is shortened to the shortest 3 seconds, which is 1/10 to 1/4 of the same industry products, filling the domestic technical gap in this field. At present, this achievement of Nafeng Microelectronics has reached cooperation with well-known universities such as Nankai University, Tongji University and Sun Yat-sen University.
Like Na Feng Microelectronics, there are many cases of breaking through the “stuck neck” technical problems and leading the development of emerging industries in Dongguan.
At the beginning of this year, Dongguan will build new momentum as the “No. 1 document” of the municipal government, and plan to build seven strategic emerging industrial bases with high standards. Dongguan proposed to coordinate 60 square kilometers of land, set up 10 billion yuan of industrial guidance fund, form 50 billion yuan of parent-child fund group, and build seven strategic emerging industrial bases.
Dongguan’s strong investment in emerging industries has attracted the attention of global investors. In May this year, at the Dongguan Strategic emerging Industries Investment Conference, global investors signed large orders with a total investment of 148.3 billion yuan.
Recently, the Dongguan City government further proposed that it should pay close attention to the construction of strategic emerging industry bases, strive to complete the second batch of policy drafting by the end of September, set up no less than 3 sub-funds, and carry out a number of project investments during the year, and introduce more than 5 industrial projects with an investment of more than 3 billion yuan and a number of “specialized new” projects throughout the year.
“The time is right for Dongguan to develop a new generation of strategic emerging industries.” Hai Wen, dean of HSBC Business School and former vice president of Peking University, believes that from the perspective of the domestic economy, the income level of the people has gradually increased, and the demand for manufacturing has changed greatly, mainly reflected in the change from “there are products that can be used” to “products that are easy to use.” From the perspective of the international environment, the market competition is becoming increasingly fierce, and the international business environment that China is facing is becoming more and more complex. Under the comprehensive influence of the two situations, Dongguan, as a famous manufacturing city in China, must develop and cultivate advanced manufacturing industry to meet the new domestic and international demand for manufacturing industry in order to achieve high-quality economic development.
Huang Wenkai, vice chairman and chief partner of South China Region of KPMG (one of the four major international accounting firms), believes that Dongguan has a good manufacturing foundation, among which the leading characteristics of electronic information manufacturing industry are prominent, including upstream hardware manufacturers, midstream solution providers and manufacturers and downstream brand terminal manufacturers and other links, is an important electronic information manufacturing base in the world. The seven emerging industries that are now focused on development are to refine the original industries and seek breakthroughs in core technologies in subdivided fields.
Hai Wen suggested that the market of emerging industries is not infinite, and the market of traditional industries is not saturated. After the development of emerging industries to a certain stage, they will also face higher and higher costs, profit dilution and other problems. Therefore, the development of emerging industries the most taboo does not respect the law of the market blind expansion behavior, many cities rush to develop emerging industries, do the same thing, which is very dangerous, to form a pattern of dislocation development.
