Under the influence of global warming, the intensification of climate change around the world has led to frequent extreme weather. In recent years, more frequent rainstorms, typhoons and other meteorological disasters not only bring damage to the daily life of residents, but also greatly impact the industrial production. The disaster response ability of an enterprise is not only related to the life safety of production personnel, but also related to the market competitiveness and sustainable development ability of the enterprise.
Taking mining as an example, mine drainage is a crucial safeguard link for mining operations. In the case that the water-filled deposit has not been completely drained, in order to create a good working environment for the mining work and the health and safety of workers, it is necessary to rely on drainage to ensure the smooth progress of production. However, in recent years, under the influence of extreme weather, heavy rain, flood and other disasters are threatening the production efficiency and operation safety of mines.
The Wiler Group is the world’s leading supplier of pumps and pump systems, with more than 140 years of development and business in more than 50 countries and regions around the world. Its products are widely used in commercial buildings, municipal water and various industrial categories. In Indonesia, Wilo works with local mining companies to provide smart, efficient and sustainable pump solutions to meet the needs of their mine drainage systems.
A massive flood caused massive damage to the drainage system at one of the mines of a major Indonesian mining company due to extreme weather. The company turned to Wille Group and proposed to rebuild a fully functional “climate-smart solution” drainage system, that is, through climate data and sensor technology, to achieve intelligent perception and control of the production process, in order to improve the flood response ability of the mine.
One of the core challenges of the project was limited access: the remote location of the mine and the pump made it difficult for operators to access the site for equipment inspection and maintenance, so the remote monitoring capability of the pump system was highly required. At the same time, the establishment of a highly integrated intelligent water pump management system, under the premise of ensuring the safety and stable production of the mine, with the help of digital technology to achieve energy saving and consumption reduction, control comprehensive operating costs, is also an important issue of concern to the mining company.
