Recently, the Kola Phase I photovoltaic power station in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, was officially connected to the grid for power generation, becoming the world’s largest and highest “water-light complementary” project. Kola Phase I photovoltaic power station is the world’s first million-kilowatt water-light complementary power station, with an annual average power generation of 2 billion kilowatt-hours and annual carbon emissions reduction of more than 1.6 million tons, exploring a new road for the integrated development of water and landscape in the world.
Eaton gives full play to the successful practical experience in the field of new energy circuit protection, and provides the new energy industry customized air circuit breaker IZM6 for the first phase of Kolla photovoltaic power station. With excellent safety and reliability, environmental adaptability, intelligent operation and maintenance performance, the project has become a new model for the large-scale centralized development of renewable energy integration.
The installed capacity of Kola phase I photovoltaic power station is 1 million kilowatts, which is connected to the Lianghekou hydropower Station with an installed capacity of 3 million kilowatts. The site is located in the plateau area of high cold, high altitude and low pressure, with the highest altitude of 4600 meters. The harsh natural conditions have extremely strict requirements for the reliability of photovoltaic power distribution systems, and also bring great challenges to the stable operation and daily maintenance of equipment. The IZM6 series of air circuit breakers provided by Eaton in the photovoltaic power generation side of the project have won the iF Design Award, bringing more value to customers than expected.
In the photovoltaic power station distribution system, abnormal current, abnormal overheating and other common problems, it is easy to cause short circuit in the battery, which puts higher requirements on the breaking capacity of the photovoltaic power distribution system equipment.
Eaton IZM6 series air circuit breaker has an excellent breaking capacity of 1140Vac/66kA(1s), and Icu=Ics=Icw(1s), that is, the operating breaking capacity, the limit breaking capacity and the short-time withstand current three parameters are equal, so the system does not need to replace components even if it experiences fault current. It can provide security guarantee for the continuity of power supply in the inverter and low-voltage cabinet of Cora phase I photovoltaic system.
The plateau area has strong ultraviolet light, large temperature difference between day and night, and easy condensation, and the conventional air circuit breaker shell frame can not adapt to the harsh climate environment, and long-term low temperature will cause irreversible damage to the plastic parts and mechanisms of the circuit breaker.
The Eaton IZM6 series air circuit breaker, with a non-LCD screen release and optimized material properties, can operate stably even at 5,000 meters above sea level and at minus 25 ° C. At the same time, Eaton considers in advance that the long-term operation of inverters and low-voltage cabinets will cause protection to weaken, so it adopts a unique electroplating process to form a perfect protection system for products to ensure excellent insulation performance in dusty and humid environments.
The project of Kola phase I photovoltaic power station is huge, the distribution system is widely distributed, and the number of equipment is large, which makes the fault location and investigation difficult. If the operation and maintenance personnel cannot find, locate, and handle the problem on site in time, a continuous short circuit or even a fire may occur.
The built-in intelligent electronic trip unit PXR of Eaton IZM6 series air circuit breaker can provide accurate measurement and acquisition of various parameters such as current, voltage and electric energy, and can be connected to the intelligent distribution management platform of the entire project, so that users can grasp the operation of the distribution system at any time. Its multiple protection functions, such as voltage protection, frequency protection and leakage protection, can help customers ensure the performance of the distribution system in complex scenarios of photovoltaic power stations, so that the power station operation and maintenance are more efficient and intelligent.
On the road to the “dual carbon” goal, Eaton is committed to integrating digitalization and new energy technologies to help build a new power system on both the supply and demand sides. Facing the future, Eaton will continue to work with Cora Photovoltaic power station to fully develop renewable energy, protect the ecology, inject a steady stream of scientific and technological impetus for China’s sustainable development, and contribute to accelerating the transformation of China’s energy industry.
