By the bank of Taihu Lake, there has been a storm of youth creativity competition. On July 29, the 16th “Mitsubishi Electric Cup” National College Students Electrical and Automation Competition (referred to as “MECA Competition”) national finals, in Suzhou Wuzhong District Taihu International Conference Center came to an end.
From ceramic underglaze intelligent drawing system to intelligent three-dimensional warehouse, from intelligent live streaming following shooting system to auto charging device, from Michelson interferometer automation device to animal husbandry multi-functional intelligent vehicle… A series of excellent works focusing on smart industry, smart life, smart technology, modern agriculture and other fields in the finals won the praise of a number of judges.
As the earliest large-scale competition for electrical, automation, machinery, computer, MECA and other majors in China, MECA adheres to the concept of “promoting teaching, learning and innovation through competition”. Since its inception in 2007, MECA has attracted more than 600 universities and 12,000 teachers and students to participate. It has become an important competition for innovation and creation widely recognized by teachers and students of universities across the country.
With the theme of “Smart Youth • Create the Future”, 825 teams from 271 universities across the country participated in this year’s competition, far larger than the previous one. After fierce competition, 86 teams from 65 universities in the country stood out and successfully advanced to the national finals.
As in previous years, the competition has set up two competitions: innovative design and system application. The innovative design competition focuses on the application of new technology, green and low-carbon, and can be controlled, and fully taps students’ creativity. System application competition focuses on vocational skills competition, emphasizing hardware design, software programming, installation and debugging, management security and other post skills.
It is worth mentioning that the excellent works entering the national finals this year pay more attention to the practicability of the industry, and integrate humanistic care, energy conservation and environmental protection and Internet elements, which are more conducive to the commercial transformation of results in the future.
After practical operation demonstration and competition defense, the judges comprehensively considered the creativity, technology, practicality, commercial value and other dimensions of the works, and selected each award. In the end, 9 teams from Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), Zhejiang University, Chongqing University, Shanghai University and other universities, as well as 2 teams from Liaoning Mechanical and Electrical Vocational Technical College, won the first prize of innovative design competition and system application competition respectively. Among them, the “Color Painting Team” of Zhejiang University’s “Light and Shadow Team” won the enterprise special award, and six award-winning students also won the direct offer of Mitsubishi Electric trainees, which is the first time that Mitsubishi Electric issued a letter of intent in MECA competition.
