Product Description

9906-619 is Woodward 723PLUS Digital Control hardware. This part is only the hardware; it does not contain any software. Model 9906-619 is one of three available models of this type. This hardware is a low-voltage model. The two alternate parts, 9906-620, the high-voltage alternate to the 9906-619 model, and the 9906-700 model, which is a low-voltage model with actuator filtering, are the only two other available models under the Digital Control Hardware section of models.

This 723PLUS control is in a sheet metal chassis with three 9-pin subminiature D connectors and three terminal strips for connections. The 9906-619 has an external power supply rated for 18–40 Vdc (24 or 32 Vdc nominal).

9906-619 Woodward 723PLUS Digital Control hardware

This hardware is compatible with magnetic pickups (MPUs) or proximity switches, depending on the need of the application. The 9906-619 can be used in load-sharing or droop parallel generator applications, among others, because of its compatibility with optional accessories. Some accessories that can be used with the 9906-619 include the Woodward Hand Held Programmer, a Digital Synchronizer and Load Control (DSLC), LinkNet nodes, an SPM-A Synchronizer, and more. Woodward 723PLUS Hardware Manual 02877 has a complete list of all the 723PLUS Digital Control accessories.

When initially operating the 9906-619 model, it must be tuned to the plus system, installation, and component tolerances to ensure that the model is functional at optimal performance. When adjusting the system modifications through set points, if requiring the rate of change to be altered faster, it is best to use the RABBIT UP and RABBIT DOWN keys rather than the TURTLE UP and TURTLE DOWN keys. To save the new set points to the EEPROM memory function, use the SAVE key; the EEPROM memory ensures that all set points are retained when the control is shut down or has power removed.

Frequently Asked Questions about 9906-619

There are a variety of Digital Control Accessories that can be used with the 9906-619 model; what are they, and how are they used with this system?

There are eight available digital control accessories available to operate with this model. The accessories are a rack position sensor, LinkNet nodes, a power output sensor, a real power sensor, a load pulse unit, a digital synchronizer and load control, an SPM-A synchronizer, and a Hand-Held programmer. The real power and power output sensors are both used with load sharing and droop operation, but they differ in what application they are utilized in. The real power sensor is used in generator applications, whereas the power output sensor is used in mechanical load applications. The load pulse unit accessory is used to improve the model load transient response. The optional LinkNet nodes are utilized when the 9906-619 model requires additional input and output control functions.

What are the considerations when installing the 9906-619 model?

When installing the 9906-619 model, some considerations include protection from exposure to condensation-prone or water environments, and vibration avoidance, meaning that the model should not be mounted directly to the prime mover. The model should also be mounted in an area where servicing and repairs to the unit can be done easily, and there is enough ventilation to allow the model to cool down.
