To achieve sustainable development goals is the new mission of the enterprise.
“People are already talking about the SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals), and ESG – Environment, Social and Governance – is seen as one of the key indicators of business sustainability. It uses non-financial metrics to demonstrate how a company contributes to society or the country. For example, how does the company’s solution reduce CO2 emissions? These have nothing to do with financial numbers. Yet this is the contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals that everyone is talking about. Therefore, ESG is regarded as one of the key indicators of business sustainability.
Many of China’s largest state-owned enterprises have begun to show reduced carbon dioxide emissions, reduced power, water, steam, coal and other energy saving information in ESG indicators to demonstrate the company’s contribution to society. To achieve these goals, a large number of technologies are required, and Yokogawa Electric has many relevant solutions. For example, an environmental monitoring system can collect, measure, and store temperature, humidity, and other management data to monitor the environment in drug manufacturing areas, quality control areas, and storage areas, as well as how the plant is using resources properly to operate or manufacture end products. For these, we have proven solutions and have implemented them in the enterprise.”
Another challenge for Yokogawa as a solution provider is how to bring partners together for a successful transformation. “With the solutions we offer, customers may ask, ‘Is this really beneficial? So Yokogawa is investing internally, first using these solutions in in-house factories. Demonstrate the effectiveness of the program through in-house plants and show real data… ‘What will customers think about that? Yokogawa has two factories in China, one in Chongqing and the other in Suzhou. The largest factory is Suzhou Factory. We deployed environmental monitoring systems in our factories and then showed how they could be better used in manufacturing. This is how we let our customers know how Yokogawa’s solutions can be applied.”
