The bus controller makes it possible for X2X Link I/O nodes to connect to POWERLINK. The X2X Link cycle can also be synchronized 1:1 with the pre-divider or with POWERLINK.

POWERLINK is a fast Ethernet standard protocol with hard real-time features. The POWERLINK Standardization Organization (EPSG) ensures that the standard remains open and evolving :www.ethernet-powerlink.org.

Systems with redundant wiring can be easily implemented using POWERLINK. Unlike ring redundancy, cable redundancy does not require a cable loop, which can sometimes be problematic. This allows the creation of all types of tree structures. When using a device with a link selector function, data is always transmitted over the highest quality network line. The link selector function is integrated in the bus controller.
