Capacitive voltage transformers (hereinafter referred to as “CVT”) have been used as voltage measurement tools in power systems for decades. Compared with electromagnetic voltage transformers, CVT has gradually become the mainstream equipment of voltage measurement units by virtue of its superior technical and economic indicators such as “suppression resonance” and “single-purpose multi-energy”.

As Hegel wrote in his Principles of Jurisprudence, “Whatever is rational is real; Whatever is realistic is rational.” The emergence of CVT and its internal structure are the embodiment of the internal logic of many disciplines such as electrical machinery and circuit principle.

Based on the three-dimensional model of CVT, this paper will disassemble and analyze the equipment, discuss the design logic of CVT from two dimensions of concrete and abstract, and recognize its essence through the appearance.

I. Internal structure and design logic of CVT

According to the appearance of CVT and equivalent circuit diagram, the overall structure of the equipment is divided into two parts: capacitive voltage divider and electromagnetic unit.
