UR8RH CT/VT Module UR Series GE

The UR-8RH is of the newer generation of CT/VT modules. It is unique in that it is equipped with sensitive ground 8CT components with enhanced diagnostic abilities. These newer CT/VT modules must be used with a firmware version 4.0x and greater. It is also best to pair a new CT/VT module with a corresponding new CPU to avoid an error such as the hardware mismatch error. This GE Multilin UR-8RH uses the sensitive ground feature in order to provide ground protection to the universal relay in the case where grounded systems are high-impedance. This high-impedance detection of ground faults provides reliably quick detection of these situations, which in many cases are cased by a conductor that is down. These CT/VT (current transformer and voltage transformer) modules also afford the Multilin universal relay with up to 24 analog CT and VT signals. These signals are used to monitor the AC power lines. This ability is important for the universal relay depending on its end stage application. Some UR relays will function to provide transmission and distribution applications whereas others may fall into the generation category.
