On September 20, 2023, the 2023 ABB Cup Intelligent Technology Innovation Competition, co-sponsored by ABB and the Chinese Society of Automation, came to a successful conclusion, and the award ceremony was held at the ABB booth at the China International Industry Fair. More than 800 students and 300 teams from nearly 200 universities and vocational colleges across the country participated in the motion control and robotics competitions. After the fierce competition in the preliminary and final, 24 participating teams stood out and won the top three, fully demonstrating the innovative thinking, professionalism and practical ability of the new generation of young technical talents.

With the theme of “Intelligent Technology, Creating the Future”, this competition focuses on power electronics, machine learning, mathematical modeling, industrial robots, digital twins, human-computer interaction and other fields, and sets up two sets of competition questions: inverter semiconductor temperature prediction AI modeling Challenge and robot Domino digital remote combat, aiming to cultivate young players’ open and innovative thinking. Enhance the ability of players to solve the problems in the real industrial scene in the interdisciplinary integration, and strongly support the training of composite innovative talents.

Over the past 18 years, ABB Cup has always adhered to its original intention and constantly innovated, opened up new tracks, upgraded new race questions, injected new vitality, and become an open platform for intelligent technology exchange and sharing and a fertile ground for the growth of young talent innovation practice. Through this long-term project, we hope to strengthen the collaborative education of all parties, stimulate the innovation enthusiasm of young talents, expand the boundary of knowledge, cross integration and innovation, and work together to achieve excellent engineers in the new era and the new engineering force in the future.
The construction of “new engineering” vigorously promoted by the state emphasizes the cross-integration of science, humanities and engineering, and emphasizes the practicability, intersectionality and comprehensiveness of disciplines. The Innovation competition jointly organized by the Chinese Association of Automation and ABB is in line with this concept, focusing on the ability of students to comprehensively apply multidisciplinary knowledge to solve practical problems, helping students to broaden their horizons, break disciplinary barriers, try cross-border innovation, and select and cultivate composite “new engineering” talents needed by the future industry.
