During the 2023 China International Industry Fair, Siemens officially awarded the first “Zero Carbon Pioneer Award”, and a total of six companies won the award for their practical achievements in carbon reduction. On the second anniversary of the launch of Siemens China’s “Zero Carbon Pioneer Program“, Siemens also announced a number of important initiatives to help the low-carbon transformation of the industrial chain, aiming to accelerate the sustainable development of Chinese industries through advanced technology, knowledge empowerment and financial services.
“Green and low-carbon transformation is not only an inherent requirement for high-quality social and economic development, but also a structural opportunity for enterprises to enhance their resilience and competitiveness.” Dr. Xiao Song, Executive Vice President of Siemens Worldwide and chairman, president and CEO of Siemens China, said, “As a pioneer, practitioner and enabler of sustainable development, Siemens continues to promote the implementation of the ‘Zero Carbon Pioneer Plan’, and build a green industrial system with partners from all walks of life with the ‘two-wheel drive’ of digitalization and low-carbon.”
In September 2021, Siemens launched the “Zero Carbon Pioneer Program” in China to build an end-to-end zero carbon industrial chain with its own digital technology and cross-domain knowledge and experience. To this end, Siemens will not only continue to implement energy conservation and carbon reduction in its own operations, but also strive to help more than 500 key suppliers in China to accelerate the pace of carbon reduction by 2025, helping tens of thousands of customers in dozens of industries to save energy and increase efficiency, and promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the industry.
In May 2023, Siemens launched the first “Zero Carbon Pioneer Award” in China. Based on the Siemens sustainability value proposition, the award comprehensively evaluates the practices and achievements of enterprises in implementing their own green operations or empowering customers to make green transitions from the dimensions of “energy efficiency and decarbonization”, “resource efficiency and circularity”, and “people-oriented and social impact”. Experts from the National Center for Climate Strategy Research and International Cooperation, KPMG China, TUV SUD and Siemens made up a joint jury. After fierce competition, Nengke Technology Co., LTD., Shanghai Langlu Construction Technology Co., LTD., Xi ‘an Baoke Fluid Technology Co., Ltd. won the “Enabling Pioneer Award – Excellence Award”; Shennan Circuit Co., LTD., Xinwangda Electronics Co., LTD., Sinotrans DHL International Air Express Co., Ltd. three enterprises won the “Operation Pioneer Award – Excellence Award”.
“Low-carbon transformation requires the joint efforts of upstream and downstream partners in the industrial chain. The release of the ‘Zero Carbon Pioneer Award’ is not only to encourage fellow low-carbon transition, but also to inject acceleration into the industrial chain towards a sustainable future.” “Siemens is willing to continue to provide comprehensive support in technology, knowledge, experience, talent and finance to enable eco-partners to achieve win-win economic, environmental and social benefits,” said Ma Qing, head of sustainable development for Siemens Greater China.
During the event, Siemens released the “Siemens Sustainability in China” report for the first time, sharing its thinking, practice and experience in strengthening its sustainable operations, contributing to the low-carbon development of the industry, and working with all parties to build a green ecology. In addition, Siemens also officially launched the “Siemens Sustainable Development Special Support Financing Project”, announcing that it will provide a special fund of 1 billion yuan to provide financing solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises and ecological partners carrying out low-carbon transition.
Based on the in-depth understanding of the green New Deal such as the EU Carbon Border Regulation Mechanism (CBAM) and the EU Power Battery Bill recently introduced in overseas markets, Siemens and the China Institute of Electronics and Information Industry Development jointly compiled the “Enterprise Green Going to Sea White Paper” and officially released it during the Expo. The white paper provides an in-depth interpretation of the impact of relevant policies in overseas markets on the export business of enterprises, and helps enterprises to formulate reasonable countermeasures and strengthen technological innovation, so as to better expand overseas markets. At the same time, relying on SiGREEN carbon footprint trusted actuarial and traceability solutions, Siemens has launched green and low-carbon services for enterprises to go abroad, helping export enterprises to meet the requirements of overseas markets for carbon footprint disclosure of export products, and helping enterprises to build a new green and low-carbon competitiveness. The service, launched by Siemens in partnership with TUV SUD, publishes carbon verification statements that comply with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards, the Greenhouse Gas Accounting System (GHGP) and the European Union CBAM Act to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the relevant data.
