Schneider Electric, a global expert in digital transformation in the field of energy management and automation, on September 19, the first day of the 23rd China International Industry Fair, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (hereinafter referred to as “China Academy of Information and Communications Technology”) and China United Network Communications Group Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as “China Unicom”) jointly issued the white paper “5G+PLC Deep Integration Solution”, with a view to systematically interpreting the research ideas, cutting-edge technologies, industrial achievements and practical applications in a simple way. Promote the innovative integration and landing application of 5G+PLC in the field of industrial core control, so as to provide a strong engine for industrial digitalization, networking and intelligent transformation, and provide support for the high-quality and sustainable development of the industry.
Today, digital technology is fully integrated into the process of economic and social development, as the lifeblood of the national economy, the industrial field, and therefore the explosion of unlimited new machines, 5G connectivity, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology progress are promoting the intelligence and efficiency of the manufacturing industry. With the advantages of large bandwidth, low delay, high reliability and wide coverage, 5G network technology will provide convenient communication support for industrial control systems, and its integration with PLC technology is bound to enable industrial control to be further flexible, efficient and open.
Based on this, Schneider Electric, China ICT Academy and China Unicom, giving full play to and integrating their in-depth insights, advantages and rich experience in their respective fields, jointly wrote and released the white paper “5G+PLC Deep Integration Solution”. The white paper first introduces the basic principles and characteristics of the integration of 5G and PLC technology, and gives suggestions for its application and planning in industrial control systems by explaining the communication mechanism and the performance requirements of different control models for 5G networks. Secondly, the white paper focuses on describing the hierarchical networking architecture system in 5G network application and industrial manufacturing scenarios, as well as some key technologies of 5G network, clarifying its performance advantages, and providing guiding suggestions for network deployment and optimization strategies. In addition, combined with application cases, a set of implementation guidelines for 5G+PLC automation line body transformation was jointly proposed to show the advantages of the solution in improving production efficiency, reducing costs and improving resource utilization efficiency. Finally, the white paper also looks forward to the future trends and challenges of 5G+PLC integration applications, in order to promote its sustainable development in the field of industrial core control.
