Altivar drives are widely recognized for their ability to reduce carbon emissions in industrial processes
Power the motor to operate efficiently and achieve 30% energy savings
To better promote climate action and raise environmental awareness, senior members of Schneider Electric, a global expert in digital transformation in energy management and automation, and its Sustainability Institute joined other leaders from government, business and the climate community for Climate Week 2022, one of the largest global climate events. The Altivar series of drives won the “International Carbon Handprint Award” in the category “High Potential Carbon Handprint Innovation”.
The International Carbon Handprint Award, presented at New York Climate Week 2022, recognizes products that have a significant positive impact on the climate, and the strength of the Altivar series of inverters is their ability to enable motors to operate at ideal speeds under a variety of load conditions, thereby reducing motor energy consumption while improving industrial energy efficiency.
With efficient industrial design and motor application management, the Altivar series drives reduce energy consumption in industrial processes by up to 30%. Based on an open, transparent and rigorous approach, it is estimated that more than 140 million tonnes of carbon emissions have been reduced or avoided over the lifetime of drives sold by Schneider Electric in the period 2018-2021 alone.
Barbara Frei, Global Executive Vice President and Head of Industrial Automation at Schneider Electric, said: “At Schneider Electric, sustainability is at the heart of our business, and every product and solution is designed with this in mind. Our mission is to help our customers improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Saving energy and reducing emissions is also one of the most important factors in achieving your own KPI for Sustainability Impact. We are delighted that the Altivar series drives are having such a huge impact on industrial operations, and we look forward to further expanding our reach in the coming years.”
In addition to carbon reduction benefits, the Altivar family includes Green Premium™ products that provide detailed information on product compliance, material content, environmental impact and circularity. Schneider Electric launched the Green Premium program to increase transparency of environmental and regulatory information and provide customers with healthier products.
