These cities are rich in “specialized and innovative”
Specialized and special new enterprises are an important support for improving traditional industries and cultivating new industries in the process of high-quality development in China.
In August this year, the list of the fifth batch of state-level specialized new “little giant” enterprises began to be publicized, and a total of 3,671 enterprises were listed, which also brought the total number to more than 12,000.
From the perspective of industry distribution, among the 12,000 “little giant” enterprises, there are more than 10,000 manufacturing enterprises. These small and medium-sized enterprises that insist on innovation and research and development in a certain segment and have “unique skills” and “fist products” have become the epitome of the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry.
In fact, guiding small and medium-sized enterprises to take the road of “specialized and special new” development, Beijing has been at the forefront of the country. From the fifth batch of specialized special new “little giant” list, a total of 243 small and medium-sized enterprises in Beijing were selected, which also makes the first five batches of Beijing national specialized special new “little giant” enterprises reached 795.
It is worth noting that the specialized and special new enterprises in Beijing are mainly distributed in Haidian District and Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, among which Haidian District ranks first among all regions in Beijing with 337 specialized and special new “little giant” enterprises, accounting for more than 42% of the city; The Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone ranked second with 98, accounting for 12 percent of the city.
For example, robots and intelligent manufacturing enterprises account for nearly 50% of the state-level specialized and special “little giant” enterprises settled in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. Beijing Economic Development Zone also focuses on the construction of four leading industries, including robotics and intelligent manufacturing industry, to promote the manufacturing industry to high-end, intelligent, green jump.
In the field of manufacturing, the research and development characteristics of Beijing specialized and special new enterprises are also obvious.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the “specialized and special new” enterprises in Beijing have shown the characteristics of “high precision, high research and development, and high growth”. Nearly 60% of R&D expenses accounted for more than 10%, nearly 70% of enterprises formed supporting facilities with leading enterprises in the industrial chain, nearly 80% belonged to the top ten high-tech industrial fields, and nearly 90% of enterprises accounted for more than 20% of R&D personnel.
Shan Jingjing, a researcher at the Institute of Ecological Civilization of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Beijing News Xinjing Think Tank that an important positioning of Beijing is the highland of scientific and technological innovation, “then it may be the top in the country in terms of research and development capabilities.”
In addition to Beijing, Shenzhen is also running with a “dark horse” attitude in specialized and special new fields. In the fifth batch of public list, 310 enterprises in Shenzhen were selected, and the new number ranked first among major cities.
In fact, as a strong economic city, Shenzhen not only has a sound industrial system and a huge market demand, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises is also very large.
Xiao Zuping, a member of the Party group and deputy director of the Shenzhen Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, previously said that there are more than 2.4 million small and medium-sized enterprises in Shenzhen, accounting for 99% of the total number of enterprises.
From the industry distribution of the listed enterprises, Shenzhen’s specialized new “little giant” enterprises cover electronic information, equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, new materials and other fields.
Take the electronic information industry as an example, as of July, Shenzhen has more than 4,100 electronic information manufacturing enterprises, 5 enterprises with annual output value of 100 billion, 27 enterprises with 10 billion, nearly 400 enterprises with more than 500 million, and 21 national electronic information top 100 enterprises.
Lin Jiang, a professor at Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University, told the Beijing News Xinjing Think Tank that specialized new enterprises in Guangdong province are mainly distributed in the four bay area cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Dongguan. The main feature of these four cities is that Guangzhou and Shenzhen are the cities with the most concentrated modern service industry to support the development of manufacturing.
“The industries in which Shenzhen specialises in new companies are located generally represent the most active, innovative and promising business sectors in the current market.” Lin Jiang said.
For the future development of the entire specialized small and medium-sized enterprises, Lin Jiang also pointed out that specialized new enterprises need to become bigger and stronger through cooperation and the establishment of strategic alliances. There should be strong complementarity between specialized and special new enterprises, and expanding the business relations and mutual assistance between these enterprises is the future development direction.
