PTC announced that Arena landed in China, becoming the first SaaS product in the PLM field to land in China, and nearly 2,000 users participated in the official conference held in the afternoon, which shows the popularity of the market.
The mid-market PLM solution Arena, acquired by PTC in December 2020 for $715 million from Arena Solutions, is a complement to the core product lines Creo and Windchill. It will also work with Onshape’s cloud-native solutions, acquired for $470 million in October 2019, to enhance its SaaS capabilities and become a symbol of PTC’s comprehensive and accelerated cloud.
In this new era of remote working and collaboration, Arena PLM helps businesses accelerate product development by consolidating product information, people and processes into a single enterprise cloud platform.
Arena has been oriented to the US market for many years, in recent years, more than 60% of its customers outside the US, in the world of more than 1,400 customers, there are more than 700 high-tech electronics companies, more than 350 life science companies, more than 300 Internet of Things companies; All of the top 15 ODMs or contract manufacturers and supply chains in the world have adopted Arena.
More and more manufacturers are implementing or extending their PLM (Product Lifecycle Management System) to enable digital remote collaboration with internal and external members.
PART1
PLM overall technical barriers are relatively low
The overall localization rate is higher
From the perspective of competition pattern, the core enterprises of CAD industry PTC, Dassault and Siemens are the leaders of the global PLM market, and domestic enterprises include Sowe System, SIPU, Fuyu, Huatian, Kingdie, Bronze and so on. The data show that the overall technical barriers to PLM are relatively low, and the overall localization rate is high. At present, domestic enterprises account for nearly one-third. Data show that in 2021, the domestic manufacturing PLM cable system accounted for the highest proportion, 3.8%. Uf PLM includes document management, material management, product structure management, change management, project management, process management, process document design, social collaboration, CAD/EDA integration, ERP integration, mobile applications, etc. Since 2017, the cloud computing industry has developed rapidly, and Yonyou’s revenue has grown steadily. The epidemic suffered a slight setback in 2020, reaching 8.59 billion yuan in 2021. It is worth noting that with the increase of costs, the overall gross profit margin of UF has steadily declined.
In the downstream application market of PLM, automotive and transportation applications accounted for 24%, ranking first; Industrial applications accounted for 21%, ranking second; Aerospace applications accounted for 16%, ranking third. These three segments account for 61% of the total applications and are the main downstream demand markets for PLM. In addition, life sciences, food and beverage, and engineering construction are the three areas with the fastest growing downstream demand for PLM, and have great potential for future development.
