See changing times as opportunities
Ten years ago, Dassault Systemes launched the 3D Experience platform (3DEXPERIENCE), that is, the integrated cloud platform for collaborative design simulation verification, covering the entire product life cycle, which is a sign of its product strategy from “product oriented” to “experience oriented” (3DEXPERIENCE), opening the first industrial software platform.
Before the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019, Dassault Systemes acquired a number of brands (products), including those in the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors, to enter the life sciences and healthcare industry.
Globally, Dassault Systemes divides the entire industry into three segments: first, manufacturing, accounting for about 69% of revenue; Life sciences, accounting for about 22%; Third, infrastructure and urban industries, accounting for about 9%. The life sciences sector accounts for nearly a quarter of revenues, demonstrating the forward-looking strategic positioning of Dassault Systemes, which means grasping the changing times.
Sustainability, green manufacturing, and artificial intelligence are on the rise, how should industrial software companies view and grasp these new changes? PASCAL Daloz responds: See these changes as opportunities.
In terms of sustainable development, the global low-carbon transition trend is significant, low-carbon means that enterprises must focus on new energy, renewable energy and other aspects. The manufacturing supply chain and value chain are facing a lot of restructuring.
In the case of automotive R&D and manufacturing, materials not only have to consider life, but also consider subsequent recycling, energy that will be generated after scrappage, sustainable concerns and concerns – which indicates that many car companies will redesign the supply chain.
About 10 years ago, the electric vehicle industry began to rise in China, and the industry began to look at the battery sector. In the past, traditional car companies will pay more attention to the development of engines and other aspects, and now they are gradually focusing on batteries and systems, and many battery suppliers and designers are from China.
What Dassault Systemes is doing now is empowering Chinese car companies to develop the next generation of vehicles, or “software-defined cars.” In the future, cars can be updated and upgraded in real time, and Chinese car companies will have more innovation and progress in this regard.
In terms of software independence, PASCAL Daloz said that Dassault Systemes is derived from the Dassault family, most of the software is from Europe, and there are few risk concerns. In terms of software adaptation, Dassault Systemes has been doing relevant work, such as the company has its own cloud infrastructure solutions, which are divided into three types, namely public cloud, private cloud and proprietary cloud. Proprietary clouds are suitable for relatively sensitive industries such as aerospace and defense.
In terms of artificial intelligence, derivative AI helps Dassault Systemes to carry out its business on three levels: First, design, and maximize the utilization of customer assets. For example, the original CATIA V5 can improve and enhance some functions through AI. The second is verification, based on big data, including data from manufacturing systems, to achieve design verification or self-development. The third is the use of derivative AI to achieve precision medicine.
For more than 20 years, PASCAL Daloz has been responsible for Dassault Systemes’ Strategy Department and product development for its major brands. After taking over the role of CEO, at the product technology level, PASCAL Daloz will increase cloud deployment solutions, as well as promote the application of digital twin technology to the operational level, create industry transformation best practices, and help industry transformation, that is, focus on three-dimensional immersive virtual twin experience platform.
In the past, Dassault Systemes has witnessed the changes in China and witnessed many products and technologies from China and from China. In the future, “In cooperation with Chinese enterprises, Dassault Systemes can create many benchmarking projects and best cases, which can be used for reference and reuse by enterprises in other countries around the world, and serve all mankind.” PASCAL Daloz said.
