China’s first high energy synchrotron radiation light source is fully equipped with ABB digital power distribution facilities
The ABB ZEE600 Smart Energy Management platform improves power distribution reliability and energy efficiency
In 2021, ABB won the bid for the High Energy Synsyntron radiation Light Source project of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and will provide 138 UniGear ZS1 air insulated switchgear, 318 MNS3.0 series low-voltage switchgear and ZEE600 smart energy management platform for the project. It provides a comprehensive power solution with high reliability for this national key project, and realizes the digital management of the distribution system.
The high energy synchrotron radiation light source project is undertaken by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is one of the ten major science and technology infrastructure projects prioritised by the National Development and Reform Commission during the “13th Five-Year Plan” period. The project is located in Huairou Science City in Beijing, and the construction content includes the accelerator, beam line and experimental station, with an expected working life of 30 years and above, and the safety requirements of the power distribution system are strict.
At the same time, users need to achieve intelligent management of power distribution equipment and optimize energy use to achieve energy saving and carbon reduction. ABB ZEE600 smart energy management platform provides comprehensive power monitoring, control and data management for 11 distribution rooms of the project, which will effectively improve the reliability of the power supply and distribution system; At the same time, it will also assist users in load management and energy efficiency management on the demand side, greatly reducing the workload of user operation and maintenance.
According to the plan, the high energy synchrotron radiation light source will be built and put into use by the end of 2025. At present, ABB has completed the delivery of all low-voltage switchgear, the technical solution of ZEE600 intelligent energy management platform has been determined, and ABB engineers stationed on the site for the switchgear and ZEE600 overall linkage debugging, it is expected that the distribution facility will complete the joint adjustment work of all systems before December 2023.
Yongzhan Zhao, President of ABB Electric China, said, “ABB is a global technology leader and we are very pleased to provide intelligent power management technology to China’s cutting-edge large science installations. We will continue to promote technological innovation and combine digital and low-carbon technologies to provide efficient and reliable power distribution infrastructure for China’s exploration and development in frontier fields.”
