Frequently Asked Questions about DS200FHVAG1A

There are circuits on the DS200FHVAG1A board, what do these circuits do?

The circuits imbedded within the DS200FHVAG1A board are used to provide an isolated path for gate power from the FGPA board to one 77 mm SCR, light an LED mounted on the board to indicate when SCR blocking voltages are present, and sense the voltage drops across the SCR and send a signal back to the FGPA board when the voltage has surpassed a certain threshold.

There are five FHVA connections, what are their names and nomenclatures?

The five FHVA connections on the DS200FHVAG1A board have the following names and nomenclatures; E2, CATH, E1, EQLRES, P1-2, CATH, P1-1, GATE, T1, GATE1, and U1, STATUS. All of the descriptions of these connections can be found on page four of the GEI-100224 High Voltage Gate Interface Board.

What should I do if this model does not have an SCR gate connected to it?

To prevent overheating of the R1 and R2 resistor pins P1-1 and P1-2 should be shorted together.

Is there importance of the A on the DS200FHVAG1A board?

Yes, the A at the end of the alphanumeric catalog number signifies the board revision and compatibility. This board is not backward compatible.

Where can I find information regarding the operation and installation of the DS200FHVAG1A board?

Any and all information can be found in the part-specific GEI-100224 High Voltage Gate Interface Users Manual, or the GEH-6373 Innovation Series Manual.

DS200FHVAG1A

Product Description

The primary use of the High Voltage Gate Interface Board DS200FHVAG1A is to supply cell voltage and SCR gate interference monitoring, these functions occur through the LCI power converter. For each SCR there is one of these boards. This board comes equipped with an SCR Status Circuit LED which will give off a visible indication that there is a blocking presence at the voltage, please note that this lED should be visible whenever the bridge power is activated and will dim when the SCR conduction angle has increased.

The DS200FHVAG1A model has a gate pulse transformer, this specific transformer is a toroidal transformer that is soldered to the board. There is also a fiber-optic transmitter on this board, it is critical to note that if a fiber-optic is not connected to the device then a rubber plug must be inserted into the U1 to prevent debris from accumulating on the lens. Please note that even after an hour of exposure to the lens in particularly dusty environments noticeable pollution can be seen on the lens.

DS200FHVAG1A GE High Voltage Gate Interface Board

Product Description

The DS200FCSAG2A board is a Current Sensing Feedback Board produced by General Electric in the LS2100 Series. This model is used alongside several boards that help with the ac drive system specifically designed to be used with gas turbine generator prime movers. This model is mounted in the static starter power conversion cabinet linked with the LS2100 Series. In terms of connectors on the board, there are two versions of sub-D pin connectors, one of the connectors is a three-pin LEMPS connector, while the other is a twelve-pin CSPL connector.

The DS200FCSAG2A model is used with a Control Power Supply (CPS). When the FCSA model is being used with the CPS, the CPS model will directly produce a voltage output for the FCSA model, typically these voltages are twenty-four, fifteen, twelve, and five volts. Sometimes it is necessary to ensure that auxiliary power does not exist on the circuits to ensure this the LEMPS connector on the DS200FCSAG2A need to be unplugged prior to checking for the correct voltage.
