It’s hard to imagine a factory automation system without linear robots. Applications of linear robots involve handling incoming materials during product production, assembly or packaging, whether integrated into a single machine as a pick and place unit, or into semi-automated or fully automated production lines. However, the design, configuration, debugging, and programming of multi-axis systems has long been considered a complex, time-consuming process that requires a large number of different interfaces. At the same time, the ever-present competitive pressure and the need to reduce costs and save time have increased the difficulty of its application. Fortunately, the current trend of digitization also promotes the rapid development of intelligent subsystems.
Bosch Rexroth has risen to the challenge and developed new solutions that make the selection of multi-axis systems and the integration of production lines easier: with modern, intuitive electronic tools, we can help technical and construction experts find a suitable Descartes robot in just a few minutes. In the course of decades of application, we have acquired a wide range of knowledge and put it to use. Users can now simply enter their application data and, on this basis, get recommendations for suitable multi-axis systems, including motors, connecting elements and energy supply. More detailed specifications can then be added to the connected online configurator via 3D live preview. The Rexroth multi-axis system is also available to customers as an intelligent linear robot with pre-installed software.
The wizard visually guides the user through the debugging process, and the driver controller automatically completes parameter Settings after connection. The handling process itself no longer requires laborious programming, but can be combined with appropriate functional modules through drag-and-drop operations. This process can be done without complex code or expert help.
We are very proud of the progress we have made. By combining best-in-class components with innovative features, linear robots are now a more attractive front-loading device for a wide range of applications. They play a key role in process optimization by reducing engineering effort and raising productivity to a new level.
While we continue to develop handling solutions based on our vision of an efficient factory of the future, our development work in the field of sensor systems is also progressing. Our newly developed sensor compensation module Smart Flex Effector will also make the handling system smarter. This hand-mounted solution combines the precision of the robot and the sensitivity of the hand, opening up new areas of application for robotics and Cartesian systems.
With just a few clicks, the factory of the future is within reach.
