Product Description
The CompactRIO controller is a powerful embedded controller consisting of a real-time processor and a user programmable FPGA. It is based on LabVIEW RIO architecture, with high performance and rich features.
With its rugged design and single-board/modular construction, CompactRIO controllers can be used as single-board computers (SBC) and System on a Module (SOM). Its processor core speeds up to 1.30 GHz and is equipped with an integrated GPU and multi-core processor to deliver extremely high performance and rich features.
The PCI Express bus is used to communicate between the FPGA and the processor, which greatly improves the throughput of the system and the number of accessible DMA channels. Compared to traditional CompactRIO controllers, the latest CompactRIO controllers use the new LabVIEW RIO architecture, which provides software flexibility to integrate the human interface and control tasks into the same terminal and the same operating system.
The combination of these technologies greatly improves system throughput and reduces latency for closed-loop control applications. CompactRIO controllers are suitable for a variety of applications in industrial automation, test and measurement, and medical devices.

CRIO-9073 NI CompactRIO Controller
In its standard configuration, the NI cRIO 9073 is offered with one Ethernet Port and one Serial Port. The Ethernet Port incorporated in the National Instruments NI cRIO 9073 supports 10Base-T and 100Base-TX Ethernet and is compatible with IEEE 802.3. Thus, this Controller offers 10 to 100 Mbps communication rates with auto-negotiation functionality. The maximum cabling distance allowable with this Controller is 100 meters/segment. The RS-232 Port in the cRIO NI 9073 offers 115,200 bps maximum baud rate and flow control in DTR/DSR, DTR/DSR, and DTR/DSR modes. This Controller comes equipped with a powerful FPGA, which offers 40,960 flip-flops, 40,960 input LUTs, 40 multipliers, 720 Kbits of available block RAM, and 3 DMA channels. The chassis can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.
