The humanoid robot “Walker” earned less
From the perspective of revenue separation, the company prefers traditional and solution businesses – education and logistics intelligent robots and intelligent robot solutions accounted for about 80% of the revenue.
And its most technical content, but also the most attracted the industry’s attention of the bipedal walking robot “Walker”, that is, the company’s true sense of humanoid robots related revenue in 2022 is only 4.8%, the first half of 2023 is only 0.9%.
Data show that Walker series robots are human-height bipedal robots, among which the latest WalkerX model has 41 servo motors, 41 body degrees of freedom, walking speed of 3.5 km/h, and the weight of one arm is 1.5 kg.
From 2021 to 2022 and the first half of 2023, the company received a total of 8.8 million yuan, 48.7 million yuan and 2.3 million yuan in Walker series and related accessories revenue.
It is reported that the first generation of Walker was first introduced in 2018 and gradually carried out walking and interactive iteration. In 2021, the company released WalkerX series products to add artificial intelligence interactive functions. This year, the company also released the WalkS series, which focuses on industrial manufacturing applications.
In the early days of market development, Walker’s performance did not seem to surprise the company.
“While we expect the revenue contribution of the Walker series to increase, the contribution of intelligent robots for education and logistics and intelligent robot solutions is likely to continue to be significant in the near term.” The company made it clear in the prospectus.
At the same time, its prospectus also pointed out that the Walker series of products in the service, customer needs and configuration of the individual differences are very large, still belong to the company’s non-standard business.
Market demand needs to be improved
The listing plan of Youbi coincides with the policy Dongfeng of the humanoid robot industry.
On November 2, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “Guidance on the Innovation and Development of Humanoid Robots” (hereinafter referred to as the “Opinions”), which for the first time made detailed planning and interpretation of the technical preparation, application scenarios, development goals, development schedules and industrial supporting facilities of China’s humanoid robots at the official level.
At the same time, the “Opinions” also called for the active participation of industry and financial capital to build a good cycle system for the landing, development and growth of humanoid robots in China.
The 21st Century Economic reporter learned from industry insiders that since 2023, dozens of new humanoid robot companies have been established in China, hoping to find opportunities in the east wind of capital and policy.
Such as overseas Tesla Optimus Prime, domestic Fourier robots have been out of mass production, trial production information, seems to indicate that humanoid robots become an independent industry is close at hand.
However, a humanoid robot industry practitioner told reporters that the so-called mass production capacity is not the main reason for limiting the commercialization of humanoid robots.
“The main reason is the demand problem, according to the current market demand, most companies do not have bottlenecks in production capacity, production lines are not difficult to deploy.”
Another industry source told reporters that the lack of application scenarios is part of the reason for limiting the volume of humanoid robot products, but the market needs to solve the price constraints.
At present, the price of most robots is more than 100,000 yuan or even millions, and the sales of main machines are mostly in a state of negative gross profit.
