“Champions” gather to realize the dream of a powerful country

The “Outline” of the “14th Five-Year Plan” proposes to adhere to the focus of economic development on the real economy, unswervingly build a manufacturing power, and emphasizes “keeping the proportion of manufacturing basically stable.” Not long ago, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other six departments jointly issued the guidance on accelerating the cultivation and development of high-quality manufacturing enterprises, and strive to develop and form a thousand individual champion enterprises by 2025.

Individual champions often choose to “play for the long term” rather than “make quick money.” They rely on the accumulation of their own ability to develop upward, accumulate steadily. Today, with the rapid development of China’s economy, the business of many enterprises has blossomed everywhere from manufacturing to real estate and finance. Some experts pointed out that for the manufacturing industry, focus on ingenuity and adhere to intensive cultivation in their own areas of expertise is the general trend of development.

Enterprises themselves play a decisive role in cultivating “champions”, but external conditions such as policies, funds and resources are also indispensable. For individual champion enterprises, the state has increased financial support, scientific and technological support and public service support, and encouraged them to actively layout R & D design centers around the world, optimize the production network and supply chain system, and effectively connect and use global resources. Local governments have also paid more and more attention to the selection and cultivation of regional individual champions. In Xiong Meng’s view, cultivating individual champion enterprises has gradually formed a development pattern of central and local governments echoing and complementing each other.

At present, more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities have issued policies related to individual championships. The first five batches of individual champions in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, also put forward the slogan of “Building a city of single champions in manufacturing”, cultivating a strong atmosphere of “champions”. Ningbo’s industry is very comprehensive, has its own advantages, there are many subsidies for scientific and technological research and development projects, and the introduction of many high-level courtyards and institutes, creating a good environment for the development of our optical industry to create a good atmosphere.”

Cultivating and strengthening China’s individual champions is a systematic project. “In the new stage of development, we should bring together multiple forces to create more and more individual champions active in various market segments.” Wu Aiqi said that the “champion” gathered in China, the dream of making a powerful country will be realized.
