Lenovo Group Wuhan industrial base
In terms of green energy use, Wuhan Industrial Base has increased lighting and LED lighting energy-saving transformation through architectural design, reduced energy demand, significantly increased the use of renewable energy, and completed the construction of distributed photovoltaic power stations in December 2019, reducing carbon emissions by about 1,104 tons per year. In terms of green process innovation, Wuhan Industrial base APSA nitrogen station was officially put into operation in August 2020, through the introduction of French Air Liquide group’s cryogenic nitrogen technology, compared with the traditional PSA gas production method, nitrogen extraction rate increased by 2.2 times, power consumption reduced by more than 50%, saving more than 10,000 degrees of power for the base every day.
In terms of digital transformation, Wuhan Industrial Base has made full use of industrial Internet, artificial intelligence, 5G and other “new IT” technologies to integrate manufacturing, and carried out a series of intelligent upgrading innovation projects, such as building a Device management platform, Device mate, to improve equipment utilization; Independently develop data center IDEAS to realize the interconnection of production and operation data; Introduce QMS2.0 system to improve the level of product production quality management; Independently develop intelligent planning APS system to achieve plant resource management, intelligent production scheduling, agile delivery, and improve operational efficiency.
1769-IR6 In addition, Wuhan Industrial base has established the whole life cycle management of green products, continuously reduce the material consumption per unit product, choose environmentally friendly raw and auxiliary materials, adopt advanced and applicable production technology and energy-efficient equipment, and reduce resource consumption and environmental impact in the production process. The base also actively introduced advanced environmental protection processes, equipment and technologies, and implemented product life cycle carbon footprint assessment for mobile phones and tablets produced by the company, making the climate change strategy a reality.

Step out of the low carbon development practice of Lenovo characteristics
Over the past 16 years, Lenovo Group has explored a practical path from reducing carbon in its own core manufacturing links, coordinating carbon reduction in supply chains, and empowering industry partners to develop low-carbon. In addition to the Wuhan industrial base, Lenovo Group’s current production bases in Hefei, Chengdu, Huiyang have achieved green factories, and in Tianjin to create the first industrial park from the source design stage to introduce the concept of zero carbon factory, to build Lenovo’s “zero carbon manufacturing” system. At present, Lenovo Group Tianjin Smart Innovation Service Industrial Park is carrying out the relevant zero-carbon evaluation.
As a global technology manufacturing enterprise with more than 5,000 supply chain enterprises, Lenovo Group also actively uses its own experience to drive the upstream and downstream of the supply chain to jointly reduce carbon. Its supply chain emission reduction is a set of “combination” covering top-level design, organizational change, technological innovation and supply chain management. TCL Huaxing and AU Optronics, the other two ICT companies that have committed to actively build zero-carbon factories, are important ecological partners in Lenovo’s supply chain.
Since the establishment of the factory, TCL Huaxing has implemented the high standards of green environmental protection by introducing and promoting advanced technologies of energy conservation and emission reduction, vigorously 1769-IR6 developing and applying clean energy, and creating a green factory with coordinated development of production and manufacturing and energy conservation and environmental protection. Among them, the largest photovoltaic power generation system in the industrial park in southern China can meet the daily electricity demand of 200,000 households. In addition, TCL Huaxing also adheres to the development and production of green products to further reduce power consumption while improving product experience.
Au Optronics is the first display manufacturer to commit to full use of renewable energy, and has joined the SBTi and submitted science-based carbon targets, continuing to meet the net Zero emissions vision 2050. In the core manufacturing process, AU Optronics combines the Internet and big data analysis and other technologies, and uses predictive management to implement carbon emission reduction technology to production equipment and plant nodes, such as monitoring the pressure difference of the dust-free outdoor air conditioning box and automatically adjusting the optimal operating frequency, using temperature sensors to automatically regulate the energy saving of heaters, and 1769-IR6 introducing permanent magnet high-efficiency motors into the water system. The annual electricity saving rate is more than 2%.
In addition, Lenovo Group is also actively empowering the external, through digital, intelligent transformation and other ways to improve quality and efficiency, energy saving and emission reduction, to help all walks of life to achieve low-carbon development. Today, Lenovo Group’s intelligent solutions have been deeply applied in automobile manufacturing, petroleum and petrochemical, energy and power, electronics manufacturing and other industries, empowering more than 300 leading industrial enterprises.
Up to now, Lenovo Group has established a complete set of green supply chain and green manufacturing system by implementing green procurement, promoting ecological design, developing green products, promoting green manufacturing, and guiding green consumption in the whole life cycle of products and services. In the supply chain CITI&CATI Index 2022 annual report released recently by IPE, Lenovo Group ranked among the top ten in the industry in both lists. The report pointed out that Lenovo Group has made outstanding achievements in promoting transparent supply chain, carbon target setting and disclosure, carbon management system construction and other aspects, and is the representative of China’s high-scoring enterprises in the ICT industry.
