The project launched six global pioneering scientific and technological achievements, including the world’s first hydrogen-powered automated rail crane independently developed by Shandong Port and integrated innovation, and the world’s first use of 5G+ automation technology, leading the world’s most advanced fully automated terminal science and technology level.
1732E-OB16M12DR It is understood that the operation of the second phase of the project shoreline 660 meters long, 2 berths, the design capacity of 1.7 million TEU/year, equipped with 9 twin trolley shore bridge (STS), 38 high-speed rail crane (ASC) and 45 automatic guided vehicles (L-AGV). Since the start of construction on June 8, 2018, the construction team has scientifically organized, vigorously tackled and made joint efforts to realize the operation of the terminal in only one and a half years, which is only 1/5 of the construction cycle of similar terminals in the world. Cancelling the traditional mains power supply mode composed of high voltage coil cable, coil device, transformer, high voltage cabinet and rectifier, independently developing hydrogen fuel cell pack to provide power for automated rail crane, not only reducing the equipment weight of about 10 tons, reducing the equipment complexity, equipment maintenance and maintenance costs, but also high power generation efficiency, replacing oil and coal with hydrogen. It is of great significance for environmental protection to realize completely zero emission of rail crane.
It is estimated that the power mode of hydrogen fuel cell plus lithium battery pack realizes the optimal utilization of energy feedback, which reduces the power consumption per box of rail crane by about 3.6%. The single machine saves about 20% of the purchase cost of power equipment, and the annual throughput is estimated at 3 million TEU, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 20,000 tons per year and sulfur dioxide emissions by about 697 tons.

Following the development trend of 5G technology in the world, the construction research and development team took the lead in the world to complete the use of “5G+ automation technology” to achieve full coverage of the terminal, and successfully realized the application of scenarios such as shore bridge, automatic control operation of rail crane, grasping and transporting containers, and high-definition video big data return under the 5G network.
1732E-OB16M12DR In response to the strict requirements of “smart port”, we actively explore new paths to meet the efficient and reliable transmission of control information and multi-channel video information. The construction team joined hands with Huawei, China Unicom and other companies to explore the application of 5G technology with low delay, high bandwidth, high reliability, large capacity and other features, combined with the port private network solution based on 5G virtual campus network and end-to-end application components, providing a new solution to solve the communication problem of port automation equipment. After testing, the communication of large-scale equipment of the second phase automated terminal has achieved low delay (within 20ms), large bandwidth (upstream more than 200Mbps, downstream more than 1000Mbps), strong anti-interference, stable spectrum, and built a low-cost and more convenient information highway for smart port applications.

It can use AI intelligent automatic recognition to achieve intelligent, safe and efficient operations on the land side, reduce the average cycle time of each operation by about 25 seconds, and improve the working efficiency of the storage yard by 13%.
The world’s first intelligent regulatory system. Intelligent management system to achieve automated terminal unmanned, along with the trend, efficient supervision, forming an intelligent supervision solution covering the whole operation process, creating a new model of automated terminal intelligent supervision. The supervision time per box is saved by 65%, the dock efficiency is improved by 3.2%, and the logistics efficiency is improved and the logistics cost is reduced.
