The NI SCXI-1160 (Part Number: 776572-60) General-Purpose Switch Module has 16 individual SPDT Form C, electromechanical, latching relays, which have extremely low on-resistance and thermal offset. This module’s relays are capable of switching, routing, and controlling medium-level signals. The SCXI 1160 Switch Module has a maximum switching rate of 50 operations per second and is completely software programmable. The switching capacity of the module is 2 A at 250 VRMS or 2 A at 30 VDC. The NI SCXI-1160 can be used with NI MIO-16 Boards; Lab-NB, Lab-PC, Lab-PC+, Lab-LC, and PC-LPM-16 boards, as well as with the DIO-24, DIO-32F, and DIO-96 boards. The device has a relay operating time of 10 ms, with an offset voltage of 3 µV.

There are five jumpers on the NI SCXI-1160 Relay Switch Module. First, Jumper W1 links a pullup resistor to the SERDATOUT signal on the back signal connector. Jumpers W2, W3, and W4 designate if the SCXI-1160 is going to be linked to a DIO board or an MIO board. If the SCXI 1160 does not have anything cabled to the back signal connector, then the arrangement of these jumpers does not matter. Finally, Jumper W5 carries the SCXI bus MISO line, after buffering, to the SERDATOUT signal on the back signal connector. This Relay Switch Module does not have access to the analog backplane to safeguard the backplane from faults when high voltages are present on the relay contacts.
