SCXI-1160

An advantage of using the SCXI-1160 module is that more than one module can be used in one or more chassis, resulting in the capability to control and switch thousands of signals. When the SCXI 1160 is used with an SCXI chassis, the chassis can function as a controller or switch in several types of applications, such as industrial process monitoring, production testing, and laboratory testing. The device operates using the NI-SWITCH driver software which is compatible with software packages such as LabVIEW, and LabWindows/CVI.s

There are five jumpers on the NI SCXI-1160 Relay Switch Module. First, Jumper W1 links a pullup resistor to the SERDATOUT signal on the back signal connector. Jumpers W2, W3, and W4 designate if the SCXI-1160 is going to be linked to a DIO board or an MIO board. If the SCXI 1160 does not have anything cabled to the back signal connector, then the arrangement of these jumpers does not matter. Finally, Jumper W5 carries the SCXI bus MISO line, after buffering, to the SERDATOUT signal on the back signal connector. This Relay Switch Module does not have access to the analog backplane to safeguard the backplane from faults when high voltages are present on the relay contacts.
