Industry 4.0 is not the fourth Industrial Revolution

This has actually been my view for many years. The concept of Industry 4.0, which was first thrown out by SAP, is actually a service for the marketing of its products. For example, at that time, SAP just launched 8440-2078  HANA enterprise database, so SAP’s description of Industry 4.0 focuses on “big data”, “data mining” and other applications; Siemens had by then reintegrated the “Botu” platform to implement the movement of digital modules controlled by a virtual PLC, the so-called “software/hardware in the loop”. After the success of the virtual debugging system MCD, Siemens immediately proposed the “digital twin” concept. After the “Industry 4.0” hit the world, it integrated CPS, IoT and other applications into Siemens’ Industry 4.0 concept to the market.

While some of these concepts and applications are good, 8440-2078  they are definitely not revolutionary enough.

The fourth Industrial Revolution should be the large-scale application of artificial intelligence

The biggest flaw of the “Industry 4.0 theory” (let’s call it a theory of manufacturing development) is its lack of vision for the ongoing fourth industrial revolution and technological revolution.
