On December 10, the Green Sustainable Development Conference (2022) and the China-Eu High Level Forum on Sustainable Development opened in Taicang, Suzhou. With the theme of “Green Digital Collaborative Transformation and China’s Practice”, the conference will share market opportunities through the China-Eu carbon neutral innovation cooperation demonstration project, promote the international cooperation strategy of China-Eu green partnership and digital partnership, and promote global sustainable development. ABB, as the representative of the 2022 China-Eu Carbon neutral Innovation Cooperation Demonstration project, was invited to attend the meeting and signed the demonstration project cooperation agreement on site.

The “China-Eu Carbon Neutral Innovation Cooperation Demonstration Project” aims to build China-Eu green partnership and digital partnership, and promote practical cooperation between China and the EU in green and low-carbon policies, technologies and industries. The China-Eu Carbon Neutral Cooperation Project Office organizes the solicitation and selection of key cities, regions and industries around the world. In the next step, we will focus on jointly building a network of international partners and jointly sharing green digital infrastructure, review the common challenges of global climate change, explore cooperation opportunities for sustainable development, and create a green development future.

After multiple rounds of assessment including primary, final and defense, a total of 28 projects were selected as the 2022 China-Eu carbon neutral Innovation Cooperation Demonstration projects after expert review. On November 28, the International Economic and Technological Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the selection results of the 2022 China-Eu carbon neutral Innovation Cooperation demonstration project, and ABB (China) Co., LTD. “ABB Industrial Center Smart Energy Project” was selected.

The ABB Xiamen Industrial Center Smart Park project is an important measure for ABB to achieve carbon neutrality in its own operations, and is also a model project for China-Eu cooperation and low-carbon transformation of enterprises. The project is aimed at the zero-carbon development needs of China’s future smart parks, based on the green development and the overall perspective of the park, with the goal of energy security and lower carbon emissions, and the construction of distributed park comprehensive energy suitable for the new power system. It is expected that after the implementation of the project, green energy can replace more than 40% of the external power supply of the park, achieve 100% new energy supply in some periods, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 13,400 tons per year, save nearly 20% of electricity costs, and realize the low-carbon transformation of the park.
