The Xycom Automation XVME-400 and XVME-401Quad Serial 1/0 Modules are single-high, single-wideVMEbus modules that provide a VMEbus system withfour serial communication channels. The XVME-400and XVME-401 differ only in their communicationinterface: the XVME-400 provides four RS-232C serialports, while the XVME-401 provides fourRS-422ARS-485 serial ports.
Both modules contain two Z8530 Serial Communica-tion Controller (SCC) chips which provide a variety ofcommunication modes, including asynchronous, byte-synchronous, and bit-oriented protocols. Each channelis independently programmable and has its own baudrate generator and modem signal controls.The VMEbus interface directly maps the Z8530 SCCchips into the short //O address space, starting on ajumper-selected 1 Kbyte boundary. The modules canalso be jumpered to generate an interrupt on any oftheseven VMEbus interrupt levels. The two Z8530 SCCchips can generate a total of 16 different interruptvectors.
For applications not allowing //O to be routed out thefront panel, the XVME-490 and XVME-49l offer thesame functionality as the XVME-400 and XVME-401In a 6U form factor, the lO is routed via the VMEbusP2 connector on the back of the board.
