PR6423/01B-030+CON011Â 8mm Eddy Current Sensor
The 8mm eddy current sensor is a sensing device based on the eddy current effect and Foucault’s Law (i.e. Gaussian current law). This type of sensor usually consists of an excitation coil and an induction coil. When the excitation coil is energized, it generates a high frequency alternating current, which in turn generates a magnetic field. When the measured object (usually a metal conductor) is near the sensor, it will generate a vortex current under the action of a magnetic field, and this vortex current will generate an additional magnetic field. This additional magnetic field causes the induced voltage in the induction coil to change, and this change is related to the distance between the object being measured and the sensor.
Specific to the 8mm eddy current sensor, its main technical indicators may include power supply, frequency response, minimum detection surface and minimum shaft diameter. For example, some 8mm eddy current sensors have a power supply of -24Vdc, a frequency response of 0 to 10kHz, the minimum detection surface can reach Φ18 mm when it is flat and the detection Angle is less than 15º, and the minimum shaft diameter is 80mm when the probe is vertically aligned with the center line of the detected surface.
This kind of sensor has the characteristics of non-contact measurement, high sensitivity, fast response, etc., so it is widely used in industrial automation, robotics, automobile manufacturing, aerospace and other fields. Specifically, they can be used to detect the position of metal parts, cracks or defects in metal surfaces, and to measure the thickness of metal plates, among other things. In addition, 8mm eddy current sensors are also commonly used for vibration and displacement measurement of rotating machinery, such as steam turbines, compressors, fans, water pumps, coal mills, gear boxes, motors and other large and medium-sized rotating machinery.
