TRANSITION MODULES
The MVME761 transition module provides industrystandard connector access to the lEEE 1284 parallelport,a 10BaseTor 100BaseT port via an R]-45connector,two DB-9 connectors providing access tothe asynchronous serial ports configured as ElA-574DTE and two HD-26 connectors providing access tothe sync/async serial ports. These serial ports, labeledas Serial 3 and Serial 4 on the faceplate of theMVME761.are individually user-confqurable asElA-232.DCE or DTE via the installation ofEmersonSerial interface Modules (SlMs). A P2 adapter boardprovides interface signals to the VME761 transitionmodule. Two separate P2 adapter boards are availableone for 3-row backplanes and one for 5-row back-planes. The 3-row P2 adapter board provides connection for 8-bit SCSl. A 5-row P2 adapter board supports16-bit sCsl and PMCl/O.
The MVME712M transition module provides industrystandard connector access to the Centronics paralle!port, a narrow SCSl port, and four DB-25 connectorsproviding access to the asynchronous/synchronousserial ports jumper confiqurable as ElA-232 DCE OrDTE.A P2 adapter board provides interface signals tothe MVME712M transition module. The 3-row P2adapter board also provides connection for 8-bit SCSlTo gain access to the additional user-definable l/0 pinsprovided via the 5-rowVME64 extension connector, aspecial P2 adapter board is available. This adapterpanel replaces the traditional 3-row P2 adapter boardand extends its capability by providing access to thePMC l/O pins.

OPERATING SYSTEMS AND KERNELSMVME5100 supports booting a variety of operatingsystems, incuding VxWorks from Wind RiverSystems, inc., integrity from Green Hills, and Linuxfrom a variety of partners.
