DESCRIPTION

The feeder protection relay REX 521 is designed for protection, control, measuring and supervision in medium voltage networks and for protection of large or medium-size three-phase a.c. motors in circuit breaker controlled motor drives. Typical applications include incoming, outgoing feeders and motor feeders as well as substation protection. Further, the relay can, e.g., be applied as back-up protection of power transformers and back up for high-voltage line-protection relays.

The protection relay is provided with energizing inputs for conventional current and voltage transformers. Also a hardware version with inputs for current and voltage sensors is available.

The REX 521 Feeder Protection Relay has been further enriched with additional features to provide your electrical network with even more efficient protection, extended measuring functions, supervision, control functions and connectivity. The REX 521 is mainly used in single busbar solutions, using one circuit breaker for various protections.

With pre-made, standard configurations the unit can be used in different types of networks and the typical applications include incoming and outgoing feeders in radial isolated neutral, resonant earthed, solidly earthed and resistively earthed systems.

APPLICATION

REX 521 is widely used in transmission and distribution networks for protection, control and monitoring. It can be used in neutral grounded, small resistance grounded, neutral ungrounded and resonant grounded networks with different voltage levels. The device is suitable for both radiating network and ring network, and can be used for single-ended power supply system or multi-ended power supply line.
The REX521 protective relay has some standard configurations, please refer to the REX521 “Technical Reference Manual, Standard Configuration” (1MRS 751802-MUM).
The REX 521 B01 version comes standard as overcurrent and ground protection for single bus outlets in neutral ungrounded systems, neutral direct grounded systems, resistance grounded systems and resonant grounded systems.
The REX 521 B02 is standard and can be used as overcurrent protection, ground protection and automatic reclosing for single bus outlets in neutral ungrounded, neutral direct grounded, resistance grounded and resonant grounded systems.
The REX 521 M01 is standard and can be used as single-bus outlet overcurrent and directional ground protection in neutral ungrounded systems, neutral direct ground systems, resistance ground systems and resonant ground systems.
The REX 521 M02 is standard and can be used as single-bus outlet overcurrent protection, directional ground protection and automatic reclosing in neutral ungrounded systems, neutral direct ground systems, resistance ground systems and resonant ground systems.
The REX 521 H01 version is standard equipped as a single bus outlet protection with directional overcurrent protection, directional ground protection and automatic reclosing with simultaneous or no voltage verification.
The REX 521 H02 standard is available as single-bus outlet protection with or without directional overcurrent protection, directional ground protection and automatic reclosing.
The REX 521 H03 standard can be used as a single bus outlet protection with no directional overcurrent protection, directional ground protection and automatic reclosing with simultaneous or no voltage verification.
The REX 521 H04 version is standard equipped as a single bus outlet protection with directional overcurrent protection without direction, ground protection with or without direction, and automatic reclosing.
The REX 521 H05 version can be used as a single bus outlet protection, with overcurrent protection, ground protection, overvoltage protection, undervoltage protection and zero sequence overvoltage.
The REX 521 H06 standard configuration can be used as a single bus outlet protection, with directional overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, undervoltage protection, zero sequence overvoltage, low frequency and overfrequency protection.
