Extreme Networks has introduced a new generation of campus edge switches, the Summit X440-G2 series. Characterized by their high performance, flexible stacking options, PoE support and comprehensive security, these switches are designed to meet the needs of modern enterprise networking.

The X440-G2 series is available in 12, 24, and 48-port Gigabit Ethernet models, with SFP and 100BASE-FX fiber model options. These models’ 1GbE ports support software license upgrades to 10Gb SFP+ Ethernet ports for higher data transfer rates and network scalability.

This series of switches supports the IEEE 802.3at PoE+ standard to power devices such as wireless access points, IP phones and security cameras, with the 48-port model supporting up to 740 watts of PoE power. In addition, the X440-G2 series also supports energy efficient Ethernet (EEE), as well as side-to-side, left-to-right air supply design, built-in power supply and support for redundant power systems (RPS).

On the security side, the X440-G2 series of switches offers comprehensive security management tools, including user policy and host integrity enforcement, unified port dynamic security files, threat detection and response tools, as well as denial of service (DoS) protection and IP security features to defend against network attacks and harden network infrastructure.

The X440-G2 series switches also support high-performance stacking of up to eight devices, enabled by the SummitStack-V feature, using standard 10GbE SFP+ cable and optical module technology, and support long distance stacking of up to 40km.

In addition, the X440-G2 family supports a role-based policy framework that allows network administrators to define different roles or profiles to represent specific work groups and grant personalized access to network services and applications based on those roles.

Extreme Networks also offers ExtremeCloud IQ and ExtremeCloud IQ – Site Engine cloud management solutions to enable centralized network management, providing a comprehensive view of users, devices, and applications. Thus, the manageability and operation efficiency of the network are improved.
