National Instruments (NI) recently introduced the PXIe-4143, a high-performance 4-channel source measurement unit (SMU) designed for applications requiring a high pin count. The PXIe-4143 operates in four-quadrant mode, with remote (4-wire) sensing integrated in each channel for more accurate measurements. The device’s high sampling rate helps reduce measurement time and captures the transient characteristics of the device for rapid IV characteristic analysis of the device under test (DUT). In addition, the PXIe-4143 uses SourceAdapt technology to adjust the response to any load for optimal response, maximizing stability and minimizing transient characteristics.
The PXIe-4143’s high-speed sequence engine enables users to synchronize these SMUs with each other or with other instruments, such as switches or high-speed digital test modules. This 4-channel source measuring unit (SMU) is ideal for high pin count applications and delivers ±24 V and up to 150 mA of current per channel. It has a current or voltage source with 16-bit setpoint and estimated resolution, and can be used as a constant voltage source or a stable current source with a movable consistency limit for any mode.
The size of PXIe-4143 is 3U and one slot, which is a PXI Express/CompactPCI Express module. The specific size is 2.0cm × 13.0cm × 21.6cm (0.8 in. × 5.1 in. × 8.5 in.). It weighs 412 g (14.53 oz). Its power requirements are 2.5A from 3.3V track and 2.7A from 12V track (20W model) or 3.0A from 3.3V track and 6.0A from 12V track (40W model). The PXIe-4143 is designed for indoor use with a maximum altitude of 2000 m (800 mbar), pollution level 2, and can only operate in an environment of 0°C to 55°C.
The module has been designed with electromagnetic compatibility and safety in mind and complies with several international standards, including IEC 61010-1, UL 61010-1, CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1, as well as the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30/EU. The introduction of the PXIe-4143 further enricues NI’s product line in the field of test and measurement, providing customers with a stable, reliable and efficient test solution.
