Emerson has introduced a new universal measuring card, the A6500-UM, as an integral part of its AMS 6500 ATG mechanical protection system. This two-channel, 3U modular design saves half of the cabinet space compared to the traditional four-channel 6U module, providing greater flexibility and space efficiency.
The A6500-UM Universal measuring card is equipped with two sensor input channels that can operate independently or in combination and supports a variety of sensor types, including vortex, piezoelectric (accelerometer or speedometer), seismic (electro-dynamic), low frequency (bearing vibration), Hall effect, and LVDT (to be used with the A6500-LC) sensors. In addition, the card has five digital inputs and six digital outputs, enabling it to interact with a variety of devices and systems.
The A6500-UM‘s measurement signals are transmitted to the A6500-CC communication card via the internal RS 485 bus and converted into Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP protocols for further transmission to the host or analysis system. Com card also provides connection to PC/ laptop via USB interface on panel for card configuration and visualization of measurement results.
The introduction of this universal measuring card further enriches Emerson’s product line in industrial automation, and its high accuracy and reliability make it ideal for monitoring and protecting critical rotating equipment for a wide range of applications, including steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors and water turbines. The A6500-UM’s hot-swappable capabilities and self-test facilities, including monitoring hardware, power inputs, hardware temperature, sensors and cables, also facilitate maintenance and troubleshooting.
