ABB has introduced a new controller module, the BC810K02, specifically designed for System 800xA DCS with redundant communication interface unit support, online CPU replacement, external power supply and hot swap support. The introduction of the BC810K02 module further enriches ABB’s product line in the field of industrial automation, providing users with more efficient and reliable control solutions.
The BC810K02 module consists of a base board (TP857) and a power/logic board, which provides the connectors for the CEX-Bus and external power supply and is grounded to the DIN rail through the metal part of the housing. The logic board is equipped with external power voting diodes and fuses, as well as connectors for +3.3V converters, logic, CEX-Bus interconnect drivers, and interconnect cables. The module can be used with a variety of panel installers, including PM857, PM861A, PM862, PM863, PM864A, PM865, PM866, PM866A, PM867 and PM891, to meet the needs of different users.
In a fully redundant system, two interconnected BC810K02 modules and primary/secondary CPU pairs can support online CPU baseboard replacement without interfering with CEX traffic. The CEX-Bus is used for communication ports on expansion boards and works with communication interface units. Redundant communication interfaces can also be used on the CEX-Bus. The BC810K02 CEX-Bus Interconnect unit improves the availability of the CEX-Bus by splitting it into independent segments, thus improving the availability of systems with redundant communication interfaces.
In addition, the BC810K02 I/O module provides a flexible and scalable solution for connecting various sensors, actuators and other devices to the control system. It supports Modbus TCP/IP communication protocol, uses 24V DC power supply, and can operate stably in the operating temperature range of -40℃ to 70℃, the external dimension is 120mm × 80mm × 60mm, the weight is 200g, has CE and UL certification, and the protection level is IP20.
