National Instruments has introduced a new sound and vibration device, the PCI-4472, model number 778348-01. This 8-channel device is designed for applications that require high-precision sound and vibration measurement, including through noise testing, noise and vibration diagnostics, structural vibration, audio test and measurement, telecommunications testing, sound power testing, and machine condition monitoring.
The PCI-4472 device has a 5V TTL/ CMOS-compatible external computerized trigger that can be triggered by a rising or falling edge, which is especially necessary for applications where transient signals are captured. In addition, the device can be synchronized with multiple NI-447x series devices to support high channel count measurement requirements. When combined with sound and vibration kits or other software analysis tools, the PCI-4472 provides a wide range of accurate time and frequency measurements for the user’s application.
The device has two trigger modes: pre-trigger and post-trigger. The pre-trigger mode digitizes the signal before and after the trigger condition occurs, while the post-trigger mode digitizes the signal after the trigger condition occurs. In addition, the PCI-4472 has an accurate voltage reference built in to ensure that the gain and balance remain stable and accurate.
The PCI-4472 device uses NI’s measurement and automation software and is based on Ni-DAQMX drivers, enabling users to build computerized test systems or integrate with other types of equipment, including measurement instruments and multi-function data acquisition devices. NI’s measurement and automation software also includes the DAQ Assistant, an intelligent wizard that guides users through configuration, analysis, and software design estimation tasks and automatically generates the necessary code.
With its advanced features and flexibility, this PCI-4472 device provides powerful technical support in the field of sound and vibration measurement, helping to improve the accuracy and efficiency of tests.
