Product Description

Installation position:

Under the mill nut: The load cell can be combined with the thrust bearing and pressure plate into a single unit and installed under the mill nut. This configuration has a good force distribution, is simple to install, inexpensive, and easy to maintain. In addition, no surface needs to be machined on the mill stand. However, this configuration takes up space in the rolled seam window.
Under the lower support roll bearing: There must be a surface large enough in the lower part of the mill stand for mounting the load cell under the lower support roll bearing. The advantage of this configuration is that special attention to the load cell is not required during roll change.
Ring load cell between the mill nut and the mill stand: This version can be measured even when there is insufficient space under the mill nut and under the lower support roll bearing. The advantage of this configuration is that no special attention is required to the load cell during roll change, and the load cell is well protected.
Pressductor Technology:

ABB’s Pressductor technology is based on magnetoelastic effects – the magnetic properties of a material are affected by the mechanical forces applied to it.
When exposed to mechanical forces, ABB’s Pressductor sensors generate a measurement signal, which is due to changes in the magnetic field. Because these signals do not depend on physical motion or deformation, the load cell combines sensitivity with an extraordinary tolerance for overloads and almost no built-in limit on the number of load cycles.
ABB Pressductor sensors produce high-power, low-impedance AC signals that are resistant to electrical interference and ground faults.

APPLICATION

When installing a load cell, certain basic rules must be followed to obtain the best measurement results:
The entire force must pass through the load cell.
The force must be measured as close as possible to the source of the force (rolling seam).
The load cell must be protected to the maximum extent possible from large bending, lateral and torsional forces.
