MVME136 32-Bit Single Board Microcomputer MOTOROLA

The Emerson / Motorola MVME135 / MVME136 Series are high performance MC68020 microprocessor based modules implemented on a VME double-high, single-wide form factor. The modules incorporate a MC68020, 32-Bit Address and Data microprocessor, a high level multiprocessor CSR and 1Mb or 4Mb of fast DRAM. Other main features provided include a Demand Paged Memory Management Unit (PMMU), a Floating Point Coprocessor (FPCP) and interfaces to the VMEbus and the VSBbus.

The MVME135 / MVME136 Series is designed for those applications which require fast on-board RAM and a secondary bus (VSBbus). The features of this series include high performance and an elegant architecture. The Series is especially suited to applications requiring multiple processors where the efficiency of inter-processor communication is important.

The MVME172P4 allows VME embedded controller users to achieve the price-performance value of RISC architectures while maintaining MC68000 object code compatibility. By combining the MC68060 superscalar performance with a wide range of optional features and the IndustryPack interface, OEMs can select the exact product for their application rather than paying for unwanted features.
The inclusion of the new “Petra” application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), which replaces functions formerly implemented in the IP2 chip, MC2 chip, and MCECC chip, improves the performance of the memory subsystem.
Memory configuration switches enable the customer to tailor memory size for applications requiring smaller memory configurations.
