This publication provides information about how to convert the following terminals to the new generation PanelView™ Plus 6 terminals:
• PanelView Plus and PanelView Plus CE 700…1500 terminals
• PanelView Plus 400 and 600 terminals
• PanelView Plus Compact terminals
The new PanelView Plus 6 platform is available with or without extended features and file viewers. There is no longer a distinction between PanelView Plus and PanelView Plus CE terminals.

The current Allen Bradley Panelview 6 Plus 2711P-B15C4D8 is an HMI that allows the user to interact with their machine. This operator interface has a 15 in. Color Display. This Panelview Plus 6 allows the user to control process or machine. The user is able to control by utilizing the Keypad/Touchscreen to input information and data. This unit is powered using 18-32 VDC power. This unit has the 512 MB RAM. If applicable this unit has an internal backlight replacement part number of 2711P-RL15C. The approximate shipping weight and dimensions are 13 lbs. and 20 x 14 x 8 in. EtherNet/IP (Ethernet Industrial Protocol) is an open industrial network that supports real time I/O messaging, as well as message exchange. The Ethernet port connects to a controller on an EtherNet/IP network by using both the network and standard Ethernet connections. This port can work with application transfers and printing as well. The EtherNet/IP screen displays and allows the user to modify some of the EtherNet/IP communication settings for a PanelView terminal. The 2711P-RN20 Ethernet communication module is available for the 700 to 1500 terminals if another Ethernet port is required. The module has its own unique IP address. This port has an RJ45, 10/100Base-T connector for network communication and supports MDI/MDI-X connections. The parameters are downloaded with the application.

The 2711P-B15C4D8 is an Allen-Bradley Human Machine Interface (HMI) device from the PanelView Plus 6 operator terminals.

It also supports web browsing via the embedded internet explorer. It also supports File Transfer Protocol (FTP) for sharing network files in the background without the need of interrupting the display of the HMI.

The 2711P-B15C4D8 comes with a 15-inch active color matrix display screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768, 18-bit color graphics and effective viewing area of 304 x 228 millimeters (12.0 x 9.0 inches). It has a CCFL backlight with 50,000 Hours operating time. This backlight is field replaceable.

The embedded input interface of this HMI is an embedded keypad which is composed of 40 Function Keys and an 8-wire analog resistive touchscreen. Both input interfaces are designed to be operated up to 1 million actuations.

The provided communication interface to this HMI devices are one (1) Ethernet interface, one (1) serial RS-232 interface and two (2) USB ports. It also comes with an SD card insertion slot for installation of a Secure Digital (SD) card as removable storage.
