Intelligent manufacturing is the deep integration of the new generation of information technology and advanced manufacturing, which runs through all aspects of manufacturing activities such as design, production, management and service. In addition to professional talents who are familiar with digitalization, networking and intelligent technology, intelligent manufacturing urgently needs cross-professional talents with electromechanical, industrial software, control, computer and industrial engineering, as well as system-level talents with interdisciplinary skills. At present, intelligent manufacturing system engineers are in short supply.
Colleges and universities, as the main source of intelligent manufacturing talents on the supply side, cultivate talents mainly in mechanical and electrical, automation, serious discipline segmentation, there are shortcomings in network communication, industrial software and other new generation information technology; And the new generation of IT professionals lack electromechanical and automation knowledge and experience. Although some undergraduate colleges and universities have set up new engineering majors such as intelligent manufacturing engineering technology and robot engineering, there is a large gap between the goal of talent training in colleges and universities and the needs of industrial development, and the quality of talent training cannot meet the actual needs of intelligent manufacturing development.
System-level talent is still scarce in the enterprise. As the integration of new generation information technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, industrial Internet and 5G with automotive manufacturing technologies accelerates, there is an increasing demand for system-level talents who are both proficient in the new generation of information technologies and familiar with industry technologies. However, the training period of such system level engineers and technicians is long and difficult. Enterprises are faced with the dilemma of being unable to recruit and retain. The shortage of talents at system level restricts the rapid development of intelligent manufacturing industry, and its solution is urgent.
In the face of the shortage of intelligent manufacturing engineers and technicians, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other three departments have jointly issued 16 new occupations led by “intelligent manufacturing engineers and technicians” in 2020, and formulated and issued “National Vocational and Technical Skills Standards for intelligent Manufacturing engineers and Technicians” in 2021 [3], pointing out the direction for the cultivation of intelligent manufacturing engineers and technicians. In the same period and later period, new occupations such as “artificial intelligence engineers and technicians”, “big data engineers and technicians” and “robot engineers and technicians” were also released, which related to the key technological fields of intelligent manufacturing, laying a foundation for the talents demand of core technologies and professional fields of intelligent manufacturing and its upstream and downstream industrial clusters. The following suggestions are hereby made.
1) Further implement and promote the construction and certification of intelligent manufacturing talent training system based on the National Professional Technical Skills Standards for Intelligent Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians, and focus on enhancing the training of system-level talents in the fields of information integration, automation integration and network integration. And gradually promote the construction and training of intelligent manufacturing talents in the fields of system architecture, system evaluation and system security.
2) Guided by the actual needs of enterprises, strengthen school-enterprise cooperation and talent joint training, and promote the integration of industry, university and research. By completing actual projects and by CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) method, conceive and enhance the ability of perception and system thinking, comprehensively cultivate and certify system level talents meeting the actual needs of market enterprises.
3) Promote the mutual recognition of domestic intelligent manufacturing talent certification system and international talent certification system, and promote the flow and circulation optimization of talents at home and abroad.
Intelligent manufacturing has changed the way of industrial production, given birth to a large number of new industries, but also put forward new requirements for talents.
