In the concept of “double carbon”, the development trend of the new energy industry in recent years, and the links of the industrial chain, various industrial technologies, equipment, production and manufacturing processes are further accelerating the process of digitization and intelligence, and at the same time, they are strengthening the practice of double carbon and the agility of the implementation.
Against the background of new era development and industrial demand, the ABB Electric Sustainable Development 2023 theme event was held in Xiamen on May 11th with the theme of “Practicing sustainable development, developing sustainable development”. It showcased ABB Electric’s sustainable development achievements in China and the innovative technologies and solutions needed to achieve green transformation. ABB has demonstrated end-to-end dual-carbon capabilities
At the activity site of ABB Xiamen Industrial Center, we saw a large number of practical cases of ABB’s digital innovation technology concept, from ABB smart energy management, smart energy storage integration scheme, integrated smart building system, i-bus light control system, charging pile, and so on. Through the deployment of ABB Ability™ ZEE600 smart energy management platform combined with the core architecture of “source-net-charge-storage”, precise regulation is carried out to build a smart microgrid in the park.
Zhao Yongzhan, president of ABB Electric China, said, “The two-carbon project in Xiamen Industrial Center has the capability of end-to-end comprehensive coverage. From power generation to electricity consumption, it includes the combination of the whole system of automation process, and also includes the system of complete energy chain of power load, including not only the power generation system, but also the application of distribution side and DC microgrid, and the load can be adjusted. Through such a set of energy management system, it can help the whole park achieve less investment and greater efficiency of clean energy. At the same time, with the original intention of using digital technology to enable electrification and automation, we can help our customers transition from traditional energy to new energy. Whether it is wind power or clean energy such as photovoltaic, ABB’s products and technologies can be applied in a large number of applications.”
It is reported that ABB Xiamen Industrial Center “carbon neutral” park demonstration base project will be smart park demonstration, new power system demand side response demonstration, smart micro grid demonstration, through the roof photovoltaic is expected to achieve 50% clean energy replacement, reduce carbon emissions 13,400 tons per year.
As mentioned above, power generation and electricity consumption are only part of the “double carbon” action. The production, operation and maintenance of digital intelligent products and application scenarios will be the path that enterprises need to pay attention to on the road of realizing low carbon, which may be a difficult point for industrial enterprises to realize.

At the event site, we saw that the UniGear ZS1 robot assembly workstation of switch cabinet of Xiamen ABB Switch Co., Ltd. realized mass production. The robot automatic workstation realized the automation of assembly process of switch cabinet cabinet, and it could assemble dozens of materials into complete cabinet without human participation. The assembly precision, consistency and quality stability of the switchgear reach a new height. It can be found that through the large-scale application of corresponding automation and intelligent technology in the manufacturing field, enterprises can not only realize intensive management, but also greatly reduce energy consumption, improve production capacity and benefits.
