1.1 Industrial Internet Platform is the “operating system” of Industrial Internet
Industrial Internet platform is the “operating system” of industrial Internet, which is oriented to the demands of digitalization, networking and intelligentization of manufacturing industry, builds a service system based on mass data collection, convergence and analysis, and supports the ubiquitous connection, flexible supply and efficient allocation of manufacturing resources. Industrial Internet platform includes edge layer, IaaS, PaaS and SaaS four levels. Among them, the edge layer is the foundation, which is connected downward to industrial equipment to realize data acquisition and processing; Industrial PaaS layer is the core of the platform. Based on general PaaS and a variety of innovative functions of big data and artificial intelligence, industrial mechanism is deposited as a model to realize in-depth data analysis and provide development environment for SaaS layer, which is a concentrated reflection of the core capabilities of the platform. The application layer is the key, which mainly provides industrial apps and innovative applications covering different industries and fields, forming the ultimate value of the industrial Internet platform. For the architecture from the edge layer to the SaaS layer, the industrial Internet platform mainly includes four functions:

(3) Industry mechanism model precipitation, transforming industrial experience and knowledge into model database and knowledge database on the platform, and facilitating secondary development and repeated calls through industrial micro-service components, accelerating the precipitation and popularization of common capabilities;
(4) Industrial application software development, for R & D design, equipment management, enterprise operation, resource scheduling and other scenarios, to provide various types of industrial apps and cloud software, to help enterprises improve quality and efficiency.
1.2 Differences between industrial Internet platform and traditional industrial software such as PLM and PDM
Compared with the locally deployed product data management software such as PLM and PDM, industrial Internet platform has a wider range of concepts and functions.
Production Data Management (PDM) is a product data management software used to manage data during product development. Including data document management, drawing management, CAD integration, visual management, material management and product structure management, product configuration management, workflow management, organization management, rights management, etc. Production Lifecycle Management (PLM), product lifecycle management software, is an extension of the concept and thought of PDM. PLM contains all the contents of PDM, and the functions of PDM are a subset of PLM system. At the same time, PLM also emphasizes the concept of managing and utilizing all information across the supply chain in the whole life cycle of products, from demand, project approval, research and development design, production and manufacturing to product delivery and after-sales maintenance. Compared with traditional industrial software such as PDM and PLM deployed locally, industrial Internet platform adopts cloud deployment mode, which has a wider range of concepts and functions. In terms of conceptual scope, the industrial Internet platform is not limited to the product data link, but covers the whole link of the enterprise from research and development, design, production and manufacturing, operation and maintenance services to operation and management. In terms of function scope, the industrial Internet platform not only plays a role in getting through the data of all links of production and operation, but also collects the operation data of all kinds of equipment in real time through a large number of sensors deployed on the edge of the device side, and gathers it to the industrial Internet platform side for modeling analysis and application.
