The 2023 Sustainable Development Leadership Forum, organized by the Guide to Sustainable Development Economics and the Research Center for Green Economy and Sustainable Development of Tsinghua University, was held in Suzhou on May 19. Delta responded positively to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals announced by the United Nations in 2015, focusing on eight of them as future priorities, including climate action, decent work and economic growth. Delta also joined the We Mean Business Initiative in 2015, adopted the Scientific Carbon Reduction Target (SBT) in 2017, and set the target of reducing carbon intensity by 56.6% by 2025. In terms of Climate action, Delta has long been concerned about climate change and global warming, and actively participates in international sustainable development initiatives. As early as 2015, Delta took The lead in making its own carbon reduction commitment. In 2018, Delta took the lead in joining the international EV100 initiative launched by The Climate Group. Join the Global Renewable Energy Initiative RE100 in 2021, with a goal of 100% renewable electricity and carbon neutrality by 2030. By the end of 2021, the proportion of renewable electricity used by Delta’s global network has reached 55%. Therefore, Delta further responds to the emission reduction path of 1.5°C global warming control, and sets the long-term strategy and target of Net Zero emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050. In November 2022, it was officially approved by SBTi, a scientific carbon target initiative organization, to echo the “two-carbon” goal with practical actions.
With more than 50 years of commitment to decent work and economic growth, Delta has more than 80,000 employees and nearly 200 sales outlets, research and development centers and manufacturing sites around the world.
