According to the official wechat message of China Unicom, on May 18th, during the Seventh World Intelligence Congress, China Unicom held the third 5G+ Industrial Internet (Tianjin) Summit Forum with the theme of “Leading Industrial connectivity innovation and digital economy development”, and jointly established the industry’s first 5G RedCap industrial alliance and released a series of core mode terminals together with industry partners.

It is reported that the industrial alliance was led by China Unicom and voluntarily formed by China Huadian Group Co., LTD. Tianjin Company, CNOOC, Huawei and other enterprises. It is an industrial organization integrating joint, professional and industrial nature. The alliance consists of six special committees, including technology research, industry application and industry promotion. Facing the country’s major technological development and people’s livelihood needs, the alliance will integrate 5GRedCap’s mature technologies, products and services into industrial supply and demand through enterprise cooperation, and jointly build advanced technology base and full-stack product system, so as to promote the healthy and orderly development of 5G industry.

During the forum, China Unicom unveiled the industry’s first 5G RedCap OpenCPU module and three industry terminals. Compared with the general digital transmission module first launched by Unicom in the early stage, OpenCPU module can release the chip level computing power and implement the application that needs to be deployed in the main MCU of the terminal through OpenCPU, further reducing the development difficulty of the whole machine, realizing the efficient integration of end network computing power and enabling the adaptation and development of new terminals more quickly. In addition, Yanfei RedCap CPE, industrial gateway and power gateway built based on modules not only support industry attributes such as data collection, data transmission and protocol analysis, but also have 5G native capabilities such as 5G LAN, slice and low delay, and carry features such as 5G private network, grid equipment management DMP and intelligent connection management CMP. It can better realize the integration capability of 5G terminal network and enable the differentiated development of the industry. Industry leaders such as CNOOC Tianjin, Huadian Tianjin, Huayang Shanxi, Siji Shandong, Youda Jiangsu and Dahua Zhejiang jointly demonstrated the successful practice of 5G RedCap capability of China Unicom in commercial application, and verified the core business links of China Unicom in eight industrial scenarios including equipment manufacturing, power energy, warehousing and logistics, video surveillance and Internet of vehicles with a number of cases. All of them have realized the national commercial debut of RedCap technology, effectively promoting the integration and innovation of 5G and vertical industries.

In addition, China Unicom has fully launched the action plan of “5G RedCap Light Link to Everything 2025”. Guided by technical capability and based on network construction, China Unicom has accelerated the incubation and creation of 17 modules and industry terminals, including industrial gateway, mining gateway, camera and vehicle-mounted terminal. It is planned to complete the commercial implementation of 150 industrial customer projects before 2025, and realize the comprehensive coverage of industrial, electric power, video surveillance and other 5G private network industry scenarios.
