According to recent media reports, Siemens and Microsoft are working together to leverage generative AI in the design, engineering, manufacturing and operational life cycles of industrial products to increase innovation and efficiency.
Siemens worked with Microsoft to use ChatGPT to improve its industrial control workflow, said Zhang Xu, an analyst at Guolian Securities. ChatGPT will be used to generate PLC code from natural language input. Artificial intelligence algorithms will play an important role in production process control, quality monitoring, equipment maintenance monitoring and unmanned production, and related companies such as industrial software will benefit.
The industrial software of R & D and design is the most critical part of the industrial software with the highest technical barrier. CAE (computer aided design) is an important category of industrial R & D and design software. Meng Can, an analyst at Sinolink Securities, published a research report on March 26, pointing out that AI+ traction CAE (computer-aided design) modeling paradigm change, greatly reducing computing costs, enabling simulation code generation and so on.
The computer team of Huatai Securities pointed out on April 13 that CAE is mainly divided into electromagnetic, fluid, structure and other major directions. In the primary market, CAE is a very hot track in the past two years, and the valuation is very high, comparable to EDA enterprises.
According to the research report released by Sealand Securities analyst Yang Yang et al on April 20, in 2021, the global CAE market scale is 9 billion dollars, and the CAE market scale in China is expanding steadily. According to IDC, the domestic CAE market scale will reach 18.4% in 2022-2026.
From the perspective of competition pattern, Guangdong Securities pointed out that, according to IDC, Ansys (US), Siemens (Germany) and Dassault Systemes (France) will rank the top three CAE software markets in China in 2021, while domestic share is relatively low, with Anson Asia Pacific and Sochen Technology accounting for 2.8% and 1.6% respectively.
Huang Leping pointed out that foreign software manufacturers cannot fully meet the simulation design needs of research and development, production, manufacturing, construction and other links in China’s engineering and manufacturing fields. In the market, there are many CAE software secondary development businesses based on specific industry applications, which bring impetus to the development of local CAE software manufacturers and are expected to welcome the increase of market share.
