Gartner Top 25, the world’s most authoritative list of supply chains, released its New Year rankings on May 24, based on companies from the Fortune Global 500 or Forbes Global 2000. There are 294 companies on the 2023 candidate list, which are divided into eight industries, showing little difference from last year.
Schneider Electric took the top spot on this year’s list, followed by Cisco, which ended a three-year run at the top last year. Colgate-palmolive, Johnson & Johnson and PepsiCo rounded out the top five. Tesla, AB InBev, GlaxoSmithKline and Dow are new to the list.
“Schneider Electric’s work exemplified a number of trends we have seen in top supply chain organizations this year, such as embracing an ecosystem approach that has helped some key suppliers reduce their carbon footprint by 10 percent in less than two years, “Gartner analysts said. Sustainability remains a top priority for our list members, with 19 companies once again achieving a perfect ESG score.”
Garnter summarized the key trends among these supply chain leaders over the past year:
Identify and seize new opportunities
The Gartner Supply Chain 25 leverages relationships, technology, and new service models to retain customers and grow revenue. They have also improved supply chain risk management to help recover from and mitigate supply chain disruptions. Future supply chain success requires investment in supply chain capabilities to strengthen the company against competitors. Anti-agile strategies enable enterprises to enhance the role of supply chains in the enterprise while remaining resilient.
Promote collective progress
A supply chain management approach that relies on many-to-many ecosystems rather than one-to-many networks can help top supply chain companies accelerate ESG progress. For example: net zero emissions, training and incentives for suppliers; Regenerating supply chains, working with downstream supply chains and even traditional commercial competitors to define standards and establish solutions; Living wage, working with ngos and governments to raise awareness.
03 Change the way the organization works
Supply chain leaders are accelerating cultural transformation and innovation through the creative intersection of people and technology, including transforming and enhancing technologies used to interact with customers to synchronize daily operations and initiatives; Embed teams in customer organizations to innovate and solve problems together; Using technology to transform the way employees approach work, digital solutions enable employees to remain aware of their environment, increase productivity, drive innovation and collaboration with others.
