With the continuous promotion of China’s carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, more and more energy “producers and consumers” take the opportunity of the integration of digital technology and power system, with the help of EMA, while realizing the efficient use of distributed clean energy, significantly saving energy costs, not only reconstructing the operation mode and management mode of the power system, but also gradually realizing the vision of “carbon neutrality”.
Take the “Wuxi zero-carbon Lighthouse Manufacturing Demonstration Park” jointly built by Schneider Electric and State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company and State Grid Wuxi Comprehensive Energy Company as an example. The park innovatively introduces the Internet of Things technology, establishes dynamic energy models through digital twins, and deployEcoStruxure Power-based end-to-end energy management solutions to optimize and control energy-intensive processes; EMA, based on intelligent AI algorithms, greatly improves the performance of energy scheduling and improves the ability to predict energy consumption and local production.
Through comprehensive energy utilization and management, the park has completed continuous monitoring of resource consumption and substantial optimization of the energy system, achieved 100% green electricity consumption on the premise of ensuring 100% safe and reliable operation of the system, reduced the average KWH cost of plant operation by 7%, reduced infrastructure investment by 5 million yuan, and increased annual production efficiency by 14%. It has set an industry model for promoting user-side comprehensive energy utilization and sustainable development.
In terms of buildings, Schneider Electric’s microgrid solutions also have excellent performance. A library located in Shanghai with a construction area of 5500 square meters and a collection of more than 100,000 volumes. As a pilot project for the two-carbon transformation, the local government plans to turn the library into a LEED Zero net-zero carbon building, complete LEED Gold certification, and finally become carbon neutral by 2060. To this end, the library worked with Schneider Electric to introduce a microgrid solution that enables EMA to orderly manage photovoltaic, energy storage, charging piles and their energy-using equipment in the building, reducing energy consumption and energy costs.
Through EMA’s management and upgrading of all energy equipment in the building, the library has realized the intelligent monitoring and management of energy using equipment, and the new source equipment can be monitored, controllable and optimized. While ensuring that it is open until the early hours of the morning 365 days a year, it significantly reduces the cost of building electricity, improves the overall energy efficiency, and reaches 100% green electricity supply. At present, the library has become a new landmark as the first near zero carbon building in the region.
As the traditional power system evolves into a clean, low-carbon, safe and controllable, flexible and efficient, open and interactive, intelligent and friendly new power system, the intelligent micro-grid model based on “new energy + energy storage” can solve the volatility and intermittent problems of distributed power generation, and provide a strong boost for promoting the digitalization and intelligent upgrading of energy systems and building a new power system. With accumulated experience in green energy management, complete hardware and software products, and service and solution capabilities covering the whole life cycle from consulting to landing, Schneider Electric will be based on the Chinese market and continue to export green digital solutions to the market through innovation, and actively empower all walks of life to maximize the use of energy and resources. Promote the sustainable development of the whole society.
