On July 1, the all-SIC permanent magnet direct drive traction system developed and produced by Huichuan Jingwei Railway was applied to train 0312 of Suzhou Metro Line 3 and successfully passed the pre-passenger evaluation.
This review is organized by the Technical equipment Committee of China Urban Rail Transit Association. As a core technology research demonstration project, this project is manufactured by Nanjing CRRC Puzhen Urban Rail Vehicle Co., LTD. As a permanent magnet direct drive train, train 0312 adopts all silicon carbide permanent magnet direct drive traction system, permanent magnet direct drive air cooled motor, permanent magnet direct drive bogie and other cutting-edge technologies in the industry, while using Ethernet train control network, domestic independent “EPB01” series frame control system.
Train 0312 is the first innovative subway train in China that uses all-silicon carbide traction converter and permanent magnet synchronous direct drive motor. The successful completion of the project marks the beginning of a new chapter of energy saving and carbon reduction in the rail transportation industry of Huichuan longitude and longitude Track.

01 The energy consumption of all SIC permanent magnet direct drive traction system is estimated to be 10%-20% compared with that of asynchronous traction trains
High efficiency: the permanent magnet synchronous direct drive motor is used, the gearbox and coupling are cancelled, and the overall efficiency of the transmission system and the system energy saving rate are improved.
Lightweight: Thanks to the advanced natural cooling design of permanent magnet synchronous direct drive motor, the weight of the motor is less than that of the traditional asynchronous motor plus gearbox and coupling weight, making the energy-saving effect of the vehicle more significant.
02 Noise reduction of more than 14dB, improve passengers’ comfortable and healthy travel experience; Easy maintenance benefits maintenance
Quiet: The permanent magnet synchronous direct drive motor adopts closed structure, the motor is in a relatively low speed operation state, no gearbox and internal fan, etc., so that the system noise is reduced by more than 14dB, improving the passenger comfort. (The noise during subway operation is usually about 80dB, close to the warning line of the ear, if long-term exposure to these noises, it will have a certain impact on hearing);
Easy maintenance: The use of naturally cooled closed structure permanent magnet synchronous direct drive motor, reduce daily cleaning and gearbox oil change work and daily maintenance workload.
Nine urban rail transit industry experts from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Jinan, Qingdao and Ningbo attended the review meeting and visited the train permanent magnet direct drive traction system.
Expert recommendations: Suzhou Metro Line 3 trains have both conventional asynchronous traction system and hybrid reluctance motor traction system (with gearbox), and this time there is silicon carbide permanent magnet direct drive traction system, which is a very good opportunity for scientific test and evaluation and comparison of different energy saving and carbon reduction technologies. We hope that Huichuan longitude&Latitude Track can do a good job in permanent magnet technology and product energy saving verification with the support of Suzhou owners.
