The launch of the new IRB 1010 robot is designed to meet the growing consumer demand for wearable smart devices
Compared with similar products, the load is increased by 50% to 1.5kg. At the same time, it has leading precision, which will further help high-quality production
With the OmniCore™ E10 robot controller, energy consumption is reduced by 20%, effectively improving production efficiency and reducing production costs
ABB has launched its smallest industrial robot ever, the IRB 1010, to enable faster, more flexible, high-quality production of wearable smart devices. How much energy does a small body contain? Check out this video!
With its compact size, outstanding accuracy and load capacity, the new IRB 1010 robot is the ideal choice for the electronics industry to increase automation and productivity for a wide range of electronic products, including smartwatches, headsets, sensors and health trackers.
Rui Liang, global Head of the Electronics business unit at ABB Robotics, said: “The wearable smart device market is accelerating and is expected to grow by double digits between 2022 and 2028. To meet this growth, manufacturers need compact robotic solutions to help them complete production in the small production space of the electrical production line, including the precise handling of various small components within wearable devices. “The IRB 1010, with a load of 1.5kg and the highest accuracy of any robot in its class at ABB, is ideal for this type of production, helping manufacturers achieve productivity and efficiency gains while ensuring product quality.”
Designed for tight Spaces and dedicated machines in electronics production environments, the IRB 1010 has an operating range of up to 370mm and a footprint of just 135mm x 250mm, a 30% reduction compared to ABB’s previous generation of smallest robots, the IRB 120. The compact design of the IRB 1010 allows users to fit more robot units into the production space, creating a high-density production layout and further increasing production capacity.
The IRB 1010 can carry a load of up to 1.5kg, leading other products in its class, and can lift up to three times the weight. At the same time, the thickened air hose increases the vacuum suction, allowing the IRB 1010 to handle multiple parts simultaneously, significantly increasing processing efficiency per unit time. In addition, the IRB 1010 can help automate more applications in the electronics field, including film stripping, material handling, assembly, gluing, inspection, and more.
The IRB 1010 is equipped with a 6-axis braking system that allows it to maintain its original attitude even when it is stopped, further increasing production efficiency. Because production can resume quickly without having to reset after a pause, the IRB 1010 is more efficient than other products in its class.
In addition, the precision performance of the IRB 1010 is also outstanding. The ABB OmniCore™ E10 controller plays a key role, providing the IRB 1010 with industry-leading repeatable positioning accuracy of up to 0.01mm and repeatable path accuracy. The OmniCore™ E10 has an ultra-thin design for applications such as small assembly in pursuit of small production units, and easily scalable production lines with built-in digital connectivity and more than 1,000 additional features.
